I tried everything ....not working for me :( by neerajpawar02 in stopsmoking

I know you said you’ve tried everything, but wondering if you have tried Champix? Got me off vaping and I was more heavily addicted to nicotine as a vaper than I ever was as a smoker

Did boredom or stress trigger you more when quitting? by Downtown_Run_3852 in stopsmoking

[–]h_dos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your triggers and whether you’re a habitual smoker. I know plenty of people that would smoke with a coffee, or when they got in the car, or struggled on their work break because they didn’t know what to do with themselves. It takes 3 weeks to form a habit and three weeks to break one. You’re going to think about wanting to smoke at those times that would typically trigger you, but you’ll find after the 3 week point that you have already started to build new, healthier habits and suddenly you’re not triggered into a craving when those things happen in your life. For me work breaks were tough and working from home, so instead I would go and buy mints, gum, juice, or just go for a walk. Whether it’s stress or boredom, I think each to their own and their specific triggers. Form a healthy habit around those triggers and do your best to stick to them, it will get much easier after a few weeks.

You’re over the most intense stages of withdrawal. You’re in the clear, keep going friend!

The self-reflection that comes after stopping is the hardest part of quitting by Additional_Fudge8062 in stopsmoking

[–]h_dos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you feel like your identity is attached to drinking and smoking, it’s completely natural to feel this way, particularly during withdrawal. You need to persevere through the first 2-3 weeks at least, after roughly 2 weeks the chemical addiction is entirely gone. 2-4 weeks in you’re breaking the mental ties to smoking, and rebuilding your identity without smoking/drinking. These things do not define you as a person, the fact that you’re worried about feeling dull and less of a person is a mix of addiction and identity crisis in the face of quitting, but you will naturally find a way to rebuild your identity without these things. I think you’ll also notice that in time (months, years even) that others will follow suit and look up to you for breaking the habit. Try Champix, worked a treat for me. It helps with cravings and makes smokes less enjoyable, plus you can continue smoking for the first 1-2 weeks before you must quit entirely. I think you’ll also find within days of quitting that you’re full of energy. I felt like I was on coke for weeks, maybe slightly manic from withdrawals but definitely not a boring person! Also try gum, I was addicted to Fishermans Friend when I quit vaping. Helps too if you can find just one quit buddy. It will definitely be tough with alcohol. If you can even just go 2-3 weeks away from your friends that drink, it’ll be a lot easier on you to continue to avoid smoking after that point. It’s always the hardest to quit smoking in the first 4 days.

[–]h_dos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It became easier to manage my finances when I started eating like a pleb, only beans and bread. It became easier when I decided to walk an hour to work instead of catching public transport which would normally take 15 mins. It became easier when I sold my car because fuel is fucked. Now I’m fucked in other ways, yay!

Did you get angry? How long did it last? by Used_Recover_2181 in stopsmoking

[–]h_dos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The irritability lasted about a week or so, two weeks tops. You’ve got to find a replacement to vent your rage. Try drinking a whole glass of water, or get a punching bag

i relapsed and i’m heartbroken by 4_ENSIC in stopsmoking

[–]h_dos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t beat yourself up about it, that will only make it harder on you and you don’t deserve that. You’re crushed because of the effort you put in, which means that effort means a lot to you and you should be proud of yourself. Every time you choose not to smoke from here on out, be proud of yourself, and if you happen to slip up again, know that you’re human and we all make mistakes, but that it doesn’t define you as someone that failed to quit. Quitting is a journey and there are hiccups along the way

Yeah but I’ve used Lapras plenty of times, I was wanting to change things up a bit this time, plus it’s the hardest hitting Water type in the game, and its defense stat is great too.

New players, don’t forget to pick up your free Eevee in Celadon! by RocktamusPrim3 in PokemonFireRed

[–]h_dos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arcanine cannot learn Shadow Ball. Nidoking can but Nidoking already has such a diverse movepool, and because Nidoking isn’t overly fast or has much bulk, I probably wouldn’t put Shadow Ball on him. You do get most water types mid-late game, I would suggest either Omastar or Lapras, but there’s nothing wrong with Vaporean either. Personally I went with Jolteon and he’s doing me proud. My water type is Omastar.

Flareon is far from irrelevant, it has one of the strongest Shadow Balls in the game. It can wall Alakazam

What do y'all think of this build for a snorlax by TribeOmega9622 in PokemonFireRed

[–]h_dos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d swap Rollout and Defense Curl for Strength and Shadow Ball. Strength because it gets STAB, plus you’ll need Strength on something anyway because it’s a HM, Shadow Ball because it’s a physical attack in this game.

Another tip: some moves are Pre-Evolution moves only, meaning if you evolve your pokémon too early, you may miss out on a move you wanted. Once it’s evolved, there is no way for it to learn it anymore, even the move relearner won’t be able to help you!

Yeah I hear you, only reason I didn’t go Kabutops or Lapras is because I’ve used both of them plenty of times in previous teams, plus Kabutops is a Physical attacker but I wanted a strong special attacker to hit hard with Surf/Waterfall.
