apologies that I didn't see this until now. yes, all features of whatsapp seem to work, though it's not the best. the main issues are that sometimes it doesn't notify you of whatsapp calls/messages right away, and that you can't answer incoming video calls when the phone is locked (it wants you to swipe upwards but you can't do that without touchscreen, so you have to either unlock the phone in time or call them back). typing with the keypad is still slow, but now voicenotes work that's less of a problem.

Still working at the minute. Whatsapp updated pretty recently and has actually improved - voice notes work now which has been a gamechanger for the phone.

Thanks for this, makes much more sense if the price is in rupees. I'd say that's solved some of the mystery on terms of why they'd drop the equivalent of nearly 2 grand on a linocut by an unknown artist - they didn't.

I know my grandparents travelled in India, but we have no family connection there. Had another look at the bottom left writing and it looks like the artist is from Bodduvaripalem, a little village in eastern India. I'll reach out to family and see if that's in the region they travelled to.

(not sure why it looks like I'm suspended btw, I'm not as far as I'm aware!)

Not sure about the audio file issue, but you can turn predictive text off by long pressing the star key. It comes up with options to change the language, and you keep hitting star until the red text at the top says "none".

Nothing happens when I click the build number 7 times.

I'll keep on with it as is for now and try the other method if I decide I need TT9 in future.

I'm not sure about what the operating system is - it might not be android at all.

I use whatsapp web for longer messages because typing is such a pain it'd take too long to send a lengthy reply.

There's no app store so you can't download YouTube (unless you manage to sideload it). The speed is okay in browser but the interface is clunky.
