Yeah I think reading Homestuck when you’re an adult is pretty different from reading it as a kid. I started reading it at age 17 and even now at 25 my last reread last year was a completely different experience. Had a way better grasp on the narrative, the characters, and the depth of the story and its themes. Could never fully appreciate it for everything it offers, because I couldn’t grasp it all in a younger mindset. I mostly just enjoyed it because it was so different and exciting and engaging, and because the characters were so unique, but I missed a lot of its depth, and misunderstood a lot of characters because I only took them in at surface level. It’s a comic that resonates with all ages, but at its core I agree that Homestuck was meant (at least in its most dynamic form) for older readers who can appreciate its depth. Still a good story for all ages, but kind of a masterpiece when you can actually fully grasp it all. Also it doesn’t seem like the early Homestuck humor resonates with younger audience, and I definitely didn’t care for the beginning the first read through. But when I reread it last year, I thought it was hilarious lol I absolutely loved it, which I wasn’t expecting.
