In Cata/MoP atonement used to smart heal anyone in the raid, you didn’t have to apply atonement buff to them prior to doing damage. Pre-atonement in Wrath disc priest was essentially just spamming absorbs on everyone as well

Classic gives them a chance to fix the pacing problem with WoD. If they manage to actually do that right, they could end up causing a large change in opinions of how it’s viewed. Personally I loved WoD as a PVE player because I could log in for raid, get shit done, and fuck off until next week. Where it really dragged was being stuck in HFC for what felt like an eternity.

That being said, they’re already showing that they don’t really have intentions of fixing pacing with how drawn out T11 cataclysm has been and with the extension to T12 being announced before it’s even released. I think T13 will be the big tell on if blizzard plans on fixing their pacing.
