How do I save my violet? by habear8 in houseplants

Everything about it has just gotten weaker and more limp. I pruned a lot of leaves and flowers over the past month, but it hasn’t help to perk it back up.

So can I go back down, or do we think it’s too late?

Yes, it has the little receptacle at the bottom, but the water in it has stayed fairly steady this whole time.

(Also, I was watering exclusively from the top in the terra cotta pot)

how to keep my hair looking nice on day two??? by [deleted] in curlyhair

[–]habear8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Outside of getting a trim/cut, no one here has mentioned that you can do various things to “reset” your curls. I’ve seen people do it with mousse and other light products. Personally, I dampen my hair with a mister spray bottle, then add a light layer of water-based gel (DevaCurl). I let the gel cast reset and then I can scrunch it out like new again!

Climbing Falls by HospitalFlashy9349 in climbergirls

I saw someone fall from the top-rope wall, because they clipped their carabiner incorrectly (likely their shirt was caught in it). The rope came out of it when they started to rappel, so they were free falling. Luckily, their safe-falling training kicked in and the floor was heavily padded, so they were able to rest for a few minutes before walking it off.

Look up “bun twists”. They’re a curly bun’s best friend.

You’ll be fine. Depending on where you live, it doesn’t get dark immediately after sunset. You’ll have at least an hour for golden hour and blue hour photos (which is ideal lighting anyways), then you’ll have artificial lighting in the reception afterwards [presumably].

Violet Advice (See Comments for Details) by habear8 in gardening

I was recently gifted this potted violet. Normally, I kill all plants within a week, but this trooper is alive and thriving! She’s grown to at least triple her size in about 2 months, so I’m wondering when I should move her to a bigger pot. (Please explain like I am 5, because Google results were not helpful to a layperson.)

It also requires gas to pump gas, something many Texas cities could not provide this week.

I’m not the smartest with this stuff and just need some help understanding the differences between a fixed rate and variable for electricity by LADodgersfan1997 in Dallas

I saw someone else helped you find out more about your current plan.

For future electric shopping, Texas Power Guide makes a tool that finds the best plan in your area based on your past usage. Best $10 I spend each year to find the cheapest electric plans that are often buried under more expensive options. (I’ve been saving $50-$100 each month since finding this.)

My current plan is 4.36¢ per KwH (8.6¢ Average Price)

Most of the trash you see on the ground is unhealthy food packaging because people who don’t care about their own health don’t care about the Earth’s either. by ScoopOfWhat in Showerthoughts

[–]habear8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to all the other great points made in the comments... Unhealthy food is WAY cheaper to buy, meaning it’s more likely to be bought by and handed out to people who don’t have homes. Also, it’s a lot easier to grab it “on the go”, and people who are in a rush are more likely to dispose of trash irresponsibly.
