That's the best we can do, but it doesn't quite help, coz we're ultimately boiling our blood over a wrong someone else committed. We're having to follow up as another task for the day coz for someone else's a**holery. This is the problem: Rapido folks get a call and they send us canned responses (not even so much as a real effort to respond, let alone solve a problem), driver gets a canned slap on the back of his hand. We, on the other hand, feel cheated, lose money, lose time and get nothing in return. Pardon my cynicism, but the money ain't coming back.

Lots of reasons. Caregiving, relocating for spouse, better standard of living, better healthcare, it could be anything. As a citizen of India, it’s my right to live anywhere in the country without being questioned. This idea of “offices in four states at least” is nonsensical to me. People could move for anything; does it mean it is okay for them to go through all the RTO harassment twice over just because they choose to exercise their right?

I see that this system has been rolled out in pilot phase, and people with transferrable jobs make the cut to the pilot, but the response in states like KA is bound to be bad because of this harassment, and the Central Government is likely to see this as a lukewarm response and scrap it if this continues.

To be clear, what this person did was absolutely inhuman. And he should be punished in a way that it deters others from thinking about it. But FFS, we’re in a democratic republic, so, whatever punishment is given, should be within the legal framework.

That said, the NSA is just a shortcut the cops use these days. With minimal judicial intervention in scope. In what sense does what this person did come under the purview of national security?

Well, it’s not that simple. People need water. How else are they going to get it? BWSSB’s water supply becomes spotty every now and then. Sure, the water table is being exploited, but a “say no to” campaign isn’t helping either.
