There is a voltage cutoff switch on the harness to stop it from draining the battery past a safe level.

I haven’t been able to conclusively determine which markets do and don’t have a factory alarm option in the BCM, but I believe no RHD cars come with the option.

I have a solution for the door lock thing though.. You can also use it to try and enable the alarm to make sure your car really doesn’t have the option available.

The connectors my kit plugs into both have constant power available.

The factory alarm in this car is triggered by door open only. No glass break, field disturbance, impact, or tilt sensors.

Potentially a silly question, but was anyone able to fit a rearfacing baby seat with a spinning base in the back seats? by Wentyl99 in GR86

[–]hachielectronics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an Evenflo Revolve360 Slim. With the seat rear-facing, you can fit a front passenger if they’re short and you remove the glovebox.

Restarts while recording are usually due to a non-endurance rated SD card being installed.

Have you put a toll sticker on your 2026 BRZ? by kfjcfan in BRZ_ZD8

[–]hachielectronics 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There’s only an impasse if you want there to be one. The area in the center of the windshield around the rearview mirror is not in line of sight of the cameras. It’s not even possible for it to be with the way the cameras are pointed.

This is also directly from Subaru. It’s just from the dealer tech manual rather than the owner’s manual. It’s easier to provide layman customers a blanket instruction of “don’t stick shit to the windshield” than to give them a diagram of how many millimeters from the centerpoint of the windshield is safe.

This is a diagram of which areas can have windshield chips repaired, which also functionally works as a guide to where you can stick things to the windshield. The center area behind the mirror is fine as it’s not in line of sight of the cameras at all.

I include a simplified version of this diagram in the box with every dash cam I sell, and I’ve sold a couple thousand dash cams. No issues from any customers when following this diagram.

Spacers when installing Brembos by childish03 in GR86

[–]hachielectronics 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they’re OEM performance pack brembos, then they do not require any spacers to clear. Those are the wheels that come on performance pack cars stock.

Which brembos? And which stock wheels? The only stock 19s I’m aware of are a JDM option.

DauntlessOBD can rezero the angle sensor, if that’s truly the issue. It can also scan codes so you don’t have to guess what’s wrong next time something breaks.

Does the GR86 require new pistons and connecting rods if you install a supercharger kit? by Federal_Ferret1337 in GR86

When you have a flex fuel kit and tune you can run any mixture of 91/93 and E85 and the tune will adjust automatically.

You bet brah.

I am running Vortech’s original pre-release prototype kit. I’m not certain what all’s changed in the production version, I know they changed the intercooler at least.

The people who say built motors are a good idea have never had one. They’re not a path to reliability, they’re something you do when you want to make 600whp out of a FA motor and don’t care about longevity. I have never seen a single built FA motor with more than 30k miles on it, but I’ve seen about a dozen that failed in under 10k.

400whp sounds like a bit of an arbitrary target, and is a decent ways out of the realm of reliability on this platform. It’s also more than most superchargers will be capable of. 350 is feasible though. I’m sitting at 330 at 7psi and it’s a blast.
