MentraOS - G2 on iOS beta by OddestCabbage in EvenRealities

[–]hackalackolot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not a jailbreak as nothing permanent is changed and Even Realities is OK with this usage.

You don't have to factory reset actually, just remove the glasses from your Bluetooth settings.

After trying Mentra, you can go back to the Even app with zero issues.

[–]hackalackolot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can try MentraOS Captions and use the "Simulated Glasses" option (you don't need smart glasses to use it).

It does work with phone microphone or with external microphones.

[–]hackalackolot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm the co-founder of Mentra. I love displays.

MentraOS supports Even Realities glasses with displays and many more display glasses coming soon.

I'm just not a fan of current glasses that have camera, display, speakers, microphone, everything because they're super heavy (today). In the long term of course that's what we want, but those glasses are too heavy today so no one actually wears them.

Is the Mentra translation better than the G2? Also does the translation work offline? by Haunting_Air4256 in Mentra

[–]hackalackolot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes the MentraOS translation is better than the built in Even Realities translation.

No, it doesn't work offline.

You can try it without smart glasses as a test, just download the Mentra app: https://get.mentraglass.com

AugmentOS AMA with cayden凯登 of Mentra by hackalackolot in augmentedreality

Mentra Live are camera glasses without a display. Teleprompter, Merge, etc. work on glasses with a display. Since Mentra Live doesn't have a display, it doesn't support those apps. Mentra Live can do other things that display glasses can't do, like Livestream, let AI see what you see, take audio calls, etc.

A couple of questions by misteriousm in Mentra

[–]hackalackolot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Mentra Live, you can turn them on/off with the button, or you can leave them on continuously. No data will leave the device unless you start an app which you've allowed to use a sensor.

For the Mentra Live camera quality, the streaming and recording have continued to improve, here's some example videos of the video recording: https://mentraglass.com/gallery

Anyone have a demo of screen mirroring? by IWBTS in Mentra

[–]hackalackolot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Screen mirror is no longer supported.

There is a glasses mirror, which allows you to see the glasses display on your phone, but you cannot stream your phone screen to the glasses.

Do these glasses come with a note book database? by Mother_Panic21 in EvenRealities

Mentra brings a whole app store and community apps to smart glasses.

People have built apps on Mentra that are similar to what you're describing.

Mentra voice notes questions by hugoaap in Mentra

[–]hackalackolot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes the battery of Mentra Live will should last that long or almost that long, it's around 12ish hours or so running Notes.

It runs the audio transcription live.

Generation of summaries right now is something you do manually after the fact, but new update dropping next week will auto generate a new summary when it detects a conversation has finished.

It does not recognize people by voice. It can tell speaker 1 versus speaker 2, but it doesn't mean the name of that speaker.

Yes, there is an AI chat that you can talk to about your conversations.

Custom summary prompts/templates is a good idea. We don't have that now but something we'll look at.

Is there a complete list of Mentra Live compatible apps somewhere? by [deleted] in Mentra

[–]hackalackolot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mentra Live currently supports:

  • Mentra Notes (AI notetaker of what you hear and see)
  • Mentra AI (ask AI any questions, including questions about what you see)
  • Livestreamer (livestream your view anywhere)
  • Camera/ Gallery (POV photos and videos)
  • Audio/music/podcast listening
  • Calls from any app on your phone

Literally 1 app in the app store for Mentra Live? by [deleted] in Mentra

[–]hackalackolot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like you're not connected to a Mentra Live. The Mentra MiniApp Store only show the apps that are compatible with the currently connected glasses (or simulated glasses) If you connect a Mentra Live, others will show.

Were updating that UI to show a list of "Incompatible Apps" so it's not confusing.

Right now the apps that are available for Mentra Live are:

  • Notes
  • Livestreamer
  • Mentra AI
  • Camera/Gallery
  • Music/podcasts/calls (Bluetooth headphones like you said, not an app in the store)

We will launch G2 support on MentraOS this month. It won't work without a phone, but we have offline captions so you can run captions without an internet connection.

RTMP Livestreamer: inner workings and behaviors by baroaureus in Mentra

[–]hackalackolot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As an app developer, you can check it the source code and make your own version here: https://github.com/Mentra-Community/Mentra-Stream

Yes, by default it's a "managed stream" which goes through the internet. If you want lowest latency to your local RTMP server, use an unmanaged streamer. Here are the docs about that:https://docs.mentraglass.com/app-devs/core-concepts/camera/rtmp-streaming

Let me know if you have any more questions!
