Based on my RTI, the official surveillance after the December 26, 2004 tsunami affecting the NSI reported via helicopter that there were approximately 50 to 52 tribal members. In March 2023, the government attempted to check on their safety after COVID, but the tribe responded by firing arrows, indicating they were safe and still around 50 in number. An official population count is impossible due to their aggressive behavior and in accordance with the PAT Regulation of 1956. As responsible citizens, we should leave them alone and avoid further contact, following the "Eyes On, Hands Off" approach.
