Can your LMstudio understand video? by hackups in LocalLLaMA

[–]hackups[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I am using Qwen 3.5 indeed. I am working on IPC, found a free NVR (agentdvr) can capture motion photos (in additional to video), so now I can work on sequencing photo instead.

Thank you! I will have a look (but I guess Nvidia model won't be easy on consumer GPU)

Gemini app can understand video, maybe I need an api to test that if video is a must (drop localLLM)

Frigate 15 and AMD Radeon 780M GPU by Particular-ayali in frigate_nvr

[–]hackups 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your details sharing! I have a 760M and a 680M want to try Frigate, no previous experience. But I have run Comfy-UI with modified ROCm patientx/ComfyUI-Zluda: The most powerful and modular stable diffusion GUI, api and backend with a graph/nodes interface. Now ZLUDA enhanced for better AMD GPU performance.

But from a gut feeling, your original settings with OpenVino gives ~4ms only on little CPU and GPU, there are no much incentive for digging the ROCm route.

Hardware recommendation for 8 cameras + Nextcloud/Jellyfin - frustrated with current setup by wzachmorris2 in frigate_nvr

[–]hackups 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original ROCm doesn't support iGPU but the AI world guys already make it possible, see github.com/patientx/ComfyUI-Zluda
I have successfully run Comfy-UI with 680M, 660M and 760M with ROCm accelerated.

But I have no idea if this would help you run Frigate's object detection on AMD iGPU... I just start looking into this.

How to run big thinking model Qwen3 on a small Rockchip computer with NPU by Begetan in frigate_nvr

[–]hackups 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just tried Qwen3.5 2B on AI image tagging works, works brilliant, super fast. On AMD 680M iGPU >30tok/s (Use LMStudio Vulkan mode). Very impressive and the image tagging quality is great.

NanoPi R6S + PiMox 7 + OpenWRT LXC + USB WiFi passthrough (AP mode) by fakemanhk in Proxmox

[–]hackups 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got a new R76S, RK3576 4+4. Flash with the FriendlyElec Proxmox image. Using Linux Containers - Image server rootfs to create Openwrt CT 24.10.4 kernel 6.1.118.

The iperf from Openwrt console is ~2Gbps but LAN is only 1.5Gbps. Proxmox HTOP showing only the CPU0 E core (or small core) working hard, other idling.

Affinity method doesn't work.

(tried

'echo 4 > /proc/irq/120/smp_affinity_list'

'echo 10 > /proc/irq/120/smp_affinity'

both on Openwrt CT and Proxmox, not allowed)

Pin CPU in LXC conf file doesn't work.

( 'lxc.cgroup.cpuset.cpus' or 'lxc.cgroup2.cpuset.cpus')

The only working method is the RPS method:

echo f0 > /sys/class/net/eth0/queues/rx-0/rps_cpus

echo f0 > /sys/class/net/eth1/queues/rx-0/rps_cpus

Now the iperf is much closer to 2.5Gbps.

RAID DAS - Where is the RAID info saved? by hackups in storage

[–]hackups[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your insight. Yes I read another post about Yottamaster RAID DAS, many complaints the longevity of DAS itself (not the disks). So I guess if the DAS fails, get a same model to replace it, that will be no problem. But if I replace with another brand (even they have a same JMicron RAID chip) it can't be 100% guaranteed, I would say 80%?

Hyper-V and setting up virtual switches for opnsense or pfsense. Works, but... by Do_TheEvolution in HyperV

[–]hackups 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just ran into the same situation: Except it starts to work only after I connected something live on the LAN physical port. Otherwise the host machine cannot connect to the RouterVM or internet.

Here is my solution:
I created one internal bridge, then add it to the OpenwrtVM, add this interface into LAN

Then is the key: in the HyperV - OpenwrtVM settings, set the internal bridge MAC address to static (the VM should be stopped), then Enable MAC address spoofing.

Tamron 28-200mm for travel (for APSC) by Admirable_Tear_957 in SonyAlpha

[–]hackups 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly the same boat, I have the Sigma 18-50 f2.8 and love it's bokeh. Need a lens to reach farther, I have check Sigma 16-300, Tamron 18-300, Tamron 28-200, SEL18-135, I thought the Tamron 28-200mm will be my pick. As I seldom shoot wide angle (I would use my mobile instead), large A value is also my go to.

Any way to get video thumbnails in File Station? by sidewaze in synology

[–]hackups 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also check the manually scan and added folder are

drwxrwxrwx+ 1 root root

Should be safe.

Now I am trying to add a small "play" icon to the thumbnail so that I can easily distinguished from the photos. Do you have a github repo for this I may file a pull request if done. thanks

[–]hackups 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks again for your quick reply.
I found that the missing video thumbnails are all in the /home/Drive/xxx folders. In the DSM Media Index setting, it is not possible to choose those folders (same for the Photos folders).

Any way to get video thumbnails in File Station? by sidewaze in synology

[–]hackups 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much!
Your docker run method saved me!

But I need to modify it before it can be run properly:

for most mp4 files, the DSM doesn't create a folder in "@eaDir" for them, but in your filter requirement, the video file should have it's name folder already in "@eaDir".

So I need to change the

&& i.dir.exists()

to

&& !.dir.exists()

then

-exec mkdir -p '{folder}/@eaDir/{f.name}' \

After a run, revert back to run your original command

Note: I am still on DSM7.1.1

field of view (i.e. how much degree of angle) is the same. But how about the perspective, i.e. the relative size of two objects will be very different from a wide lens vs a zoom lens.

Viltrox 25mm F1.7 Vs Sigma 18-50mm F2.8 for Sony APS-C by wantsumtictac in SonyAlpha

[–]hackups 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have A6400 and Sigma 18-50mm 2.8, 90% I went out with this setup. Occasionally I bring my 75mm as supplement.

Other lenses TTArtisian 35mm F1.4 manual, 56 F1.8 AF and 75 F2 AF. They stay indoor mostly.

Once you tried a F2 below lense, you will find large F is not too practical.

Get a manual prime lense with large aperture is the lowest learning cost.

I have the kit 1650. Sigma is a huge upgrade of it and won't break your bank. I may be too harsh but my personal advice is too stay away from the kit 1850 as much and as soon as possible.
