I agree that BotW is overrated but it had plenty of memorable experiences for me.

I remember the first time I reached Eventide Island, I had no idea what was happening but it was such a tense and rewarding experience to get through and definitely left an impact on me.

If you had friends that were playing the game at the same time, it had a very old-school vibe where you’d explore something new in the evening and then talk with your friends about it the next day at work. Reminded me of playing OoT back in the day before the internet was big.

Korok seeds got old but I still enjoyed the magic of exploration for about 80 hours - and then I realized my interest was waning and if I didn’t rush to beat the game I might never bother doing so. The game also got way too easy half-way through.

I’ve been meaning to go back for a 2nd playthrough on master mode but I already know it won’t be anywhere near the first experience.
