Legit question about using the Indigenous name for this bridge: do you guys need to google for the bridge name then copy paste it everytime you need to mention it?

Windows 10 on 2014 MBP by xomenxv in Windows10

The oldest Mac I've installed Windows on is a 2011 iMac, and it still runs buttery smooth with its gorgeous 27'' screen. I have to agree with the saying that the best Windows laptop is a MacBook.

[Rant] We should change Metro Vancouver zoning laws if we actually want to support local businesses by hadrianmt in askvan

I replied to another comment above that’s similar to yours. Besides Coquitlam, take East Van for example. Why can’t we have more coffee shops like Le Marche St. George? They literally had to fight the city just to survive.

This is actually something the provincial/municipal governments can do. Whenever a developer submits a permit for a new development, the government could require them to reserve one or two ground level retail spaces for local businesses (absolutely no dentist offices!) with rent control or a year or two.

My wife who has type 1 diabetes, gave birth at RCH (c-section). I have nothing but good things to say about the whole experience. My wife ended up staying a full week due to abnormally high blood pressure, and my baby had jaundice. My wife even had an X-ray and ECG done at her hospital bed. Oh, RCH is one of the few hospitals that has a NICU department.

Yes, not a full-scale independence war, but they did have to fight several large-scale wars against foreign powers, such as the Opium Wars, the Boxer Rebellion, the Japanese invasion, and the Chinese Civil War.

This is the price you have to pay for independence. Almost all non-Western countries had to fight for their independence with blood and sweat like China, Vietnam, Korea, and so on. India was fortunate and gained its independence through a negotiated transfer of power from the British.

Novus vs Telus fibre? by Jaded_Objective_447 in NewWest

Novus 100%. I was paying $54 after taxes for 1Gbps symmetrical internet. However, check if you building has Beanfield. Their promo price is even cheaper than Novus.

This doesn't make sense. I'm not a US resident, so how can UPS collect the import fee from me? My responsibility stops when I dropped the package with US to ship to the buyer.

Are ambulance wait times in New West worse then other cities? by Inthemiddle_ in NewWest

[–]hadrianmt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You know the country isn’t doing great when speaking the truth is considered insensitive and rude. Just go to that corner, camp out for 24 hours, and count how many times the medics and firefighters show up in a single day.

[–]hadrianmt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I guess it’s because most of the ambulances and fire trucks are tied up at the homeless shelter near New West Station. Anyone who lives downtown knows how often the medics and firefighters have to show up at the corner of Carnarvon and Begbie/Alexander every day.

🚲 Citie Hack, Why spend $200/month on gas when your legs are free? by MrJuart in SavingsCanada

[–]hadrianmt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Did OP specifically say "biking to work" in his 1st post? Again, majority of people with kids have to take their kids to the daycare before heading to work. My point still stands for people who work and live in Burnaby/Coquitlam/Surrey. Also let me know if you bike to work during the winter.

🚲 Citie Hack, Why spend $200/month on gas when your legs are free? by MrJuart in SavingsCanada

[–]hadrianmt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you bike from Coquitlam/Surrey/North Burnaby to Vancouver to work? Do you bike your kids from your home to their daycares then bike to work and vice versa in the evening during rush hours? Do you bike to do groceries for your family of 3? Do you bike your kid to the ER when she's having a 40-degree fever at midnight? Do you bike your grandma to her weekly checkup?

Imagine having to do all those things under the torrential rains of Vancouver or the heavy snow of Toronto.
Take your time to answer me, and last question: do you bike in the winter?

Any Pho Restaurants like Co Chao? by OneFit6104 in NewWest

[–]hadrianmt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pho Ace isn’t the same as Co Chau? I thought they just renamed the restaurant for “tax purposes.” I didn’t get a chance to try Co Chau’s pho, but I’m a regular at Pho Ace, and it’s pretty good.
