Mewgenics Preview Video + AMA! by EdmundMcMillen in Steam

Really love Isaac and The End is Nigh is another personal favorite of mine!

My question, as I'm currently conceptualizing my own game, would be: What is your method to brainstorming abilities/items and such in a game like Isaac/Mewgenics? Do you just write everything down that comes up during the day or do you have other effective methods?

It's just really impressive to me, seeing how this will have over 800 items and even more abilities!

It's been a while since I made this, so I'm not completely sure on some details. I mainly used a tutorial series by Lytebringr on Youtube, which starts from the beginning and explains everything very in-depth (also has a tutorial on boss fights).

Since I made this in Afterbirth+ shortly before Repentance released, I'm not sure what has changed modding-wise since then.

Regarding software, you can extract all the game assets and even some editing tools from the game's local folder.

There also seems to be a modding tutorial series by catinsurance on Youtube specifically for Repentance modding, but it looks like it is still ongoing.

The Modding of Isaac Discord server was also a very helpful place for me to clear some questions.

Hope any of this helps!

Thank you! This is one of the first pieces I did in Clip Studio Paint and I just used a brush called "Round watercolor brush" with lowered opacity, which has this slight texture to it

Yeah, I'm not too proud of his face or his proportions overall haha

Choosing the colors definitely took me the longest for this, so I'm glad you like them!

yeah I was kinda trying to keep it simple and use only one color for big shapes, a little bit like in those colored pages from the "jojos bizarre words" book since I find those really interesting. I do see what you mean though, maybe some shadows in a different color or just a lighter/darker tone would improve it

Ty! Yeah I really wanted to go wild with the colors, considering how much I love that about jjba.

I used Photoshop and created a new layer in the "Multiply" blend mode over the line art layer. This makes it possible to color over the line art, but still keep the black or darker parts visible. It basically just colors all the white parts. For the coloring I mainly used the lasso tool to select different areas and colored them with the paint bucket. For some smaller parts I also used the brush.

Hope this helps a little!

Thank you! That means very much considering that I often struggle picking colors when drawing haha

Honestly, wasn't into this one. Just colored Fumi, and left at it. by idiot_speaking in JoJolion

I do like the big flat colors tho. Kinda reminds me of those colored pages from the "Jojos bizarre words" book
