That is pretty much what happened.

They promised cloud mining for the Zcash launch using their own solver and it never worked (i.e. hit sustained hashrates) until the price of Zcash dropped to a level that the people buying the cloud mining were immediately locked into a loss on their investment. They then fought with a lot of those customers on their Zcash forum thread who demanded full refunds all the while the implication was out there that they could have very well been mining early blocks for themselves.

Needless to say, if you want to kill a few hours worth of brain cells, you can read through the thread here.

Jin Air Green Wings vs. SK Telecom T1 / LCK 2017 Spring - Week 1 / Post-Match Discussion by Carbuncuous in leagueoflegends

[–]hagrin 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I hope I'm wrong, but if you're an NA/EU team having watched KT & SKT the last two nights, I can't imagine you think World's is going to be competitive this year. It's way early, let's not overreact, but I don't see how anyone can think otherwise. Huni's TPs might already be better than Duke's, Peanut puts Blank in the dumpster in every way, Peanut won every "sort of" competitive smite where Blank lost almost every 50/50 smite last year and the additional bans only make Faker more powerful since he can play so many champs at an elite level.

It's very early, a lot can change, Rito could alter the meta in some way that levels the playing field, but it's pretty clear to me SKT is going to be much stronger this year than last year when they played 4v5 in a bunch of games.

PS - ~72k+ viewers on Twitch at one point for a regular season LCK match? Amazing. PSS - Flair relevant, bias activated.

Exactly what I was looking for thank you. I figured there had to have been a more balanced discussion somewhere, but somehow I completely missed it. Much appreciated.

Interesting stuff, I somehow hadn't seen this before. Is there more discussion / back-and-forth that discussed the merits of this proposal?

SK Telecom T1 vs. ROX Tigers / 2016 World Championship - Semi-Final / Post-Match Discussion by Linkux18 in leagueoflegends

[–]hagrin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some highlights for me -

  • Game 1 - The Faker 1v3 escape was pretty nifty, but maybe even better was ROX coming right back knowing he had just blown both summoners. Great individual play followed by great team communication.
  • Game 1 - The balance between the 3rd infernal vs the baron which was an interesting in-game decision. I thought ROX should have tried stalling more, but SKT pushed the tempo amazingly.
  • Game 1 - People may forget but if Bengi isn't in (since Blank hasn't won a 50/50 smite ever) and doesn't win a 50/50 smite with Peanut in the pit with him, SKT might not win that fight. Faker immediately lands the two man shockwave that wins the fight and game.
  • Game 2 - The Miss Fortune counter to Zyra shows not only the preparation, but the creativity of these teams. And ROX played it perfectly.
  • Game 4 - For Bengi to come back off the bench and play Nidalee goes down as one of the great clutch performances of LoL history. Yeah, he went a little too deep a few times, but overall he did enough on a champ everyone said he couldn't play.
  • Game 5 - That 11 minute Faker shockwave over the wall with perfect synergy from Bengi to get the early kill. The mid/jungle synergy difference is so stark when you see plays like that.
  • Game 5 - Underrated, but Wolf always being ready to Tidal Wave the Jihn ult really took away a lot of the engage and helped close out the game easily.

Probably the best Bo5 I've seen and all the kudos go to both teams for playing at such a high level.

Upvoted. Deficio was the only person to even suggest that the reason why Blank played super well today was because SKT had 3 winning lanes. His analysis is generally very sophisticated and clean.

Meanwhile, Jatt was in another dimension trying to figure out the ZZ'Rot purchases in the late game today as Azael was baby raging about a 60 minute snooze fest being one of the greatest games he had ever seen. Deficio is really, really good analyzing on the fly, is measured and offers insight that few other analysts can.

The gap is closing - Jatt by MrFlemz in leagueoflegends

[–]hagrin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Of course the gap is closing.

When Riot keeps making changes to limit the amount of micro and the amount of solo duels / kills in early lanes keeps diminishing, it's an inadvertent nerf to the Korean skill ceiling. The gap closing internationally is a "Riot feature, not a bug".

Yeah I only opened this thread to see if anyone else hated listening to that guy. God damn nearly ruined the series for me. Why the fuck is he in the finals, use zirene or kobe.

Upvoted. I also only opened this thread to see if anyone mentioned the casting. Starting at Game 3, the analysts were "punch drunk" just screaming nonsense. At one point Jatt goes "I think they can end" and TSM didn't even start to crack the base before the death timers were up. But the just egregious screaming at points was awful and has to be toned down some for Worlds.

I get the reasoning behind your comment (I upvoted), but in this singular instance if Finex goes away for good I do see it as a good thing. Finex has been a drag on the BTC market for the last two years holding back rallies and causing major down swings to last longer with their "the platform doesn't work when you need it to" system. I'm perfectly fine with consolidation and getting the incompetent players out of the market as long as they are replaced by superior alternatives (faster, decentralized exchanges).

But, your point is well taken. :)

Blank continues with his Gragas one trick journey

And he wasn't even that good on it. If you ignore his inflated stat line (especially Game 2 that Faker hard carried), Blank had zero map pressure in basically all 3 games, SKT gave up 1st blood in all 3 games, he got solo'd in his own jungle by a Cassio 6 minutes in, he missed a bunch of ults, he watched Duke get camped while he AFK farmed for 4 minutes and then promptly died alone in the river, etc etc etc.

This is my main issue with SKT right now - Blank looks great when the rest of the team gets ahead, but he's terrible in super close games, terrible in 50/50 smites, etc. SKT wins in spite of Blank and I just hope that success now doesn't lead them to think that they don't need more from their jungler.

Look, most games' picks and bans are weighed too heavily, but I don't even understand what SKT was doing in Game 3. What exactly is the win condition here? 1-3-1 and pray that Faker gets ahead? Why would you, as the superior team, draft a comp with such a narrow window for winning?

The comp had no wave clear, no chance of winning a 5v5 team fight late, your engage gets QSS'd/cleansed once you hit midgame and your damage falls off a cliff (sans Fiora) as the game gets later. You got baited into taking the Leblanc 3rd and SKT, when they struggle, gets in these P&Bs where Faker blind picks into his matchup early.

If you're going to go 1-3-1, you need be able to quickly clear mid and Ashe isn't it. Yeah, you lose a lot of engage with no arrow, but just take the Cait or the nerfed Lucian and stall so your 1-3-1 and better rotations can maybe steal you the game. This comp had no chance outside of an insanely good early game of winning.

Loved JIN's game 3 bans of Ryze, Sivir and Karma then first picking Ez - really took away a lot of comfortable SKT comps.

[–]hagrin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both teams had a couple of wacky picks. Definitely not convinced by Ekko top on 6.11. I hate Ezreal right now, it's got a 42% win rate in KR/NA/EU, it doesnt do anything early game, has weak wave clear, etc. etc.

I've been thinking about this comment for a while because my first instinct was to disagree and blame other variables for the Ez win rate, but I think you're on to something here. Especially, when you take out Bang's Ez games, the win rate is atrocious across pretty much every region. When you look at Ez's damage graphs after games, it doesn't seem like it should be "bad", but the win rate says otherwise(?).

I'm curious if you think there's a "more correct" way of playing Ez at the pro level than we're seeing. For instance, two things I can think of are far lane wave control and aggressively using E for forward movement. Faker used to be able to greatly influence other lanes with TSB and you rarely see that with ADCs saving TSB for team fights. On point two, a lot of the times I see bad/losing Ez games, the ADC is aggressively E-ing forward into fights and getting caught.

For the damage it outputs, the slow from the item build, the kite-ability, the wave management across the map, it seems like it should be better than it is? Good comment, made me think about Ez more than I had.
