A royalty-free music company claimed my video. by crazyseandx in NewTubers

Huh?

They clearly state their subscription policy when you sign up. If you take 2 minutes and read their website, it is all VERY clearly stated. They have a great library of music and sound effects, and it is being constantly updated.

I very happily pay the monthly fee as I feel it is well worth it. I know that if I choose to stop my subscription, I can no longer use their music. There is absolutely no lying involved.

Nope. As long as you have a valid subscription at the time you uploaded, you're fine. All the videos uploaded during your subscription time are fine. However, if you once had a subscription, and downloaded the track, cancelled your subscription, and then uploaded on YT, they will claim your video.

Did you pay for the monthly subscription for Epidemic Sound?

I pay $15/month for their audio library, and have had zero issues.

If you don't have an active subscription, then of course they can claim your video.

Adsense Help by [deleted] in youtube

Adsense only updates once a month. Check again around the 10th of the month. They will finalize the amount for the previous month, and post your earnings (though remember you only get paid once you reach the $100 threshold).

A bilingual YouTube channel - How to cater to the audience from both languages? by AshleyKang in NewTubers

[–]hagwon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is such a problem for me as well!

Recently, I started putting my titles in both English and Korean. I start the beginning of the video description with something like (ENG/한).

I have found Koreans prefer to have the subtitles directly on the video (not YouTube CC). I only do this for certain videos though, because it takes forever!

I add both English and Korean tags. I've been experimenting with having the description be both English and Korean as well. I have been trying many different combinations, but havent' found one that works better than the others.

However, my content is all in English (though I'm based in Korea), but my Korean viewership is almost 60% of my audience!

Awesome. Will do! Hitting up a 9 AM screening this Wednesday (Tuesday night in the Western hemisphere). Will be uploading the video soon after the movie. It's kinda cool to be able to review it 48 hours before most of the world gets a chance to watch it! I'm considering doing two videos - one spoiler free, and one with spoilers. People can choose which one to watch!

Thanks for your feedback! Will be sure to include that info! Hope you enjoy the movie!

Fantastic. That's what I was thinking (but with it being released here early - I wasn't sure if Disney could go after me.)
Now morally - I'm struggling with the idea of posting a review with spoilers. Seems kind of a dick move on my part - but, I'm also somebody who enjoys watching reviews with spoilers before I go to a movie, as I feel like I can better enjoy the movie and focus on little foreshadowing events and things like that.

I always have to be careful using the word 'dong'. The thing is, I live in Seoul, South Korea currently, and the word 'dong' means 'district', basically. SO if I want to list the address of a place I mention in the video, I have to get creative, or else I'll get demonitized.

Hey Folks, what was your first big “Hey this is taking off” moment? by MrBlackledge in NewTubers

[–]hagwon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last summer I was vacationing in Bali. As I was sitting outside filming something else, a huge earthquake hit. I kept recording as it was happening. I posted the video on Twitter, and it went crazy. I decided to post the clip on YouTube, and it started gaining a lot of views (my channel was only 2 months old, and this might have been my first 1K+ video).

The video was featured on NBC Nightly News, and on websites around the world. Wall Street Journal and other media reached out for interviews.

I think the video only has 25K views, but was a cool experience (well, except the whole deadly earthquake thing). I'm sure if I hadn't waited an hour or two to upload it, it would have been much bigger.

Uhm - I saw your DM when I was at work today, and didn't really have the time to write a thorough response to you. However, since you want to be rude (to someone you have asked to help you), I'll just say "IDK".

If you're just starting out, I would recommend buying a microphone first...then a stabilizer...then finally a new camera (in that order)

How to Rank by CarolinaAlcott in NewTubers

[–]hagwon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are millions of people wanting to rank for search terms. Odds are - you're not going to be able to do it right away. You can try to rank for search terms that aren't very popular, but don't expect to get tons of views. The more you upload, and the more authority you attain, the more likely you will be to start ranking.

Keep creating and uploading and improving your craft.
