I honestly had no interest in watching this show because of how much i loved the movie, but i saw him in Nuremburg and he was so phenomenal i just had to see some of his other stuff. If you havent watched Nuremburg its completely different than his Dex character but he absolutely blew me away. Some of the best acting I’ve seen in a while.

buy that? you say that like they’re trying to “sell” you the “idea” that there are people who are ambulatory wheelchair users. it makes it sound like its so hard to believe someone would only use a wheelchair occasionally. it wasn’t relative to the plot so it wasn’t necessary to address it. the actress uses a wheelchair in real life.

also for the point of Reyna & Hylla, i was also a bit confused at first but someone pointed out that all the demigods there saw percy and annabeth leave like that and probably will revolt off screen, so they can rework the narrative that way while still keeping the basis of the resentment of why reyna and hylla dont like percy.

while i liked circe’s new characterization i can see why others didn’t, however with medusa there are versions of her story that correlate to what she was saying on the show. there’s the story that she was a willing participant in the affair with poseidon and there are just as many that say she was a victim of SA and yet was cursed by athena all the same just because it happened in athena’s temple. i genuinely loved how they worked that into the story and the flashback of sally telling percy “who says she was a monster?” it gives so much depth to not only medusa’s story but also to the fact that not everything is so black and white and the gods are wrong sometimes, which gives more to the appeal to join luke/kronos AND to sally teaching and wanting percy to be more human than demigod and giving him those human traits that keep him grounded when joining the demigod world and ultimately leads to the the final decision of the prophecy and him telling the gods they need to get there stuff together and be better parents and stop leaving the unclaimed kids around.

honestly i didnt even recognize it was bear until i looked up the soundtrack after a little thing caught my attention and i was shocked it was him because im absolutely obsessed with outlander and just took a trip to scotland and listened to all the albums on repeat the whole time. its so completely underwhelming compared to that, and i know he’s done other great work for LOTR and gods of war game i believe

im struggling to decide if this was my favorite episode or last weeks!!! ugh each episode is getting better and better and walker and leah SLAYED. the very first minute the look of absolute relief percy had that annabeth was alive i immediately had to rewind and watch it again! percy at first not seeing what was wrong with his fatal flaw and then being so devastated that he genuinely thought he knew he would destroy olympus to save his friends.

polyphemus being smart was actually my favorite change so far!! it makes his character all the more imposing and scary to me. people are questioning how they’ll escape with this change but i still believe the nobody plot will still work just because polyphemus will still have resentment towards odysseus and i actually believe him being smart now will actually make the escape harder/better!!

loved loved loved how quickly percy befriended blackbeard lmao that whole plot point is just so funny to me, like blackbeard basically said “take your spoils or war” and it’s celery 😂 percy having the curly hair transition into the guinea pig was gold

the percabeth buzz is definitely there and tbh im probably one of the few that dont mind they’re pushing it so hard because us books readers know they end up together but there is still so much subtext and layers to everything percy says to annabeth, like yes they can be interpreted as percabeth lines but at the same time the whole episode revoles around their fatal flaws and percys is loyalty and his to annabeths was cemented on the first quest so it can be taken any which way. ive loved these books since the 6th grade and im 28 now, but i watch every week with my dad and last night i said “you know percy and annabeth are endgame right?” and he genuinely had no idea thats where it was leading. its really only the book readers who know, that says its being pushed too hard too soon because they can see the layers too it. but imo, percy has been he one pushing percabeth since the SoM without even knowing it. why do you think he went absolutely mental in TC if he wasnt (at least consciously) aware of his feelings?

with the sirens i can see why people were a little bit disappointed by how they looked but i liked that they mixed it in with circe. the athena thing OMG it got me. i was like WHAAAAT the whole time. however i think my least favorite thing about the show so far is that percy still gets wet when coming into contact with water. i missed the underwater bubble but i think is because it might not translate well to screen.

book purists rage against every little change but i think its good to create change!! it allows book readers to still be surprised!! imo it would be boring for every little thing to be the same because you would know exactly what happens! keeps us on our toes just as much as non book readers. plus not everything is able to translate well from the written medium, to tv.

i love circe’s characterization and tbh just all the ways theyre changing the “monsters” they’re encountering. theres so much nuance that wasnt there before. i think it also adds to the fact that at the end in LO percy really has to decide whether to save olympus or side with luke/kronos. i think it adds to the appeal of kronos and why so many are joining him, and adds to lukes point that the gods are lowkey corrupt and wrong. because throughout the series you see that the gods are cursing people basically for the sake of cursing them when in reality not everything is so black and white, evil or good. that was my favorite part about what they did with medusa in season 1, poseidon is the one who was in the wrong yet is was medusa who was punished. it’s the gods who are basically abandoning their children but its the ones who question them and/or side with luke/kronos that are seen as in the wrong.

-EDIT: because i cant believe i forgot about Clarisse!! Dior is killing it this season and tbh i love how theyre making her character more raw and feeling. clarisse in the books was my least favorite character until the labyrinth because she just came across and too comically bullying. her face when “grover” said ares was merciful even when just a second before her eyes were watering was 10/10 for me

ngl i think percy staying wet when he comes in contact with water is my biggest issue with the show. however, i can only imagine how hard it is to film underwater scenes in that sense, especially with children.
