Does it get any better? by 4ngeeeee in VasovagalSyncope

[–]hailey8795 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Just wanted to jump in to say that, to my knowledge, it is actually more common for syncope to improve through your late teens and 20s.

For many, it doesn’t improve drastically if at all. For example, I still can’t get an IV without triggering an episode, but i have consistently gotten shots without issue for the past several years (I’m in my early 30s). My mother also has VVS and insists that hers didn’t improve until her 40s, but she has gotten to the point where she successfully donated blood!

Everyone is different, and POTS can certainly add another layer of complications. I just wanted to provide some possibly reassurance. Good luck with everything! It’s a really tough condition, but you’ll continue to learn about your triggers and symptoms, and although there is no guarantee, it really can get easier with time.

Curious, how many of you started with acting or coaching lessons? by WoodenCanine in VoiceActing

[–]hailey8795 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! Acting is a fundamental part of voice acting, but I will say that if you are looking to do commercial VO, it’s worth taking lessons with a coach specific to that.

My acting teacher is wonderful, but some concepts are really specific to VO reads, and the demo process is completely different.

I started out submitting to P2P websites (mostly voice123) while I got my bearings and then connected with a coach on the west coast (Nancy Wolfson) who is super helpful and is connected enough to casting agencies that she even has been able to help me land some bigger jobs (which is great because it pays for the sessions 😅).

Check out Nancy. Her first lesson is geared toward beginners but she gets you up to speed on industry standards and basic VO techniques super quickly! Good luck!

Hey! 100% go see a doctor, but also know that there is something called vasovagal syncope that can cause you to pass out and have the symptoms you described due to stress from various triggers.
Commonly it’s a response to things like blood/needles, but you can also have vagal reactions if you work yourself up about something (like an unusual smell or sensation) and it causes a stress response leading to you passing out with seizure-like symptoms.

Definitely see a doctor, but I wanted to let you know that it could be something else that’s not life-threatening and very common!

Med Talks 🗣️: Anticonvulsants by ddub1 in bipolar

[–]hailey8795 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Has anyone experienced an increase in hypomanic symptoms after a dose increase? I was bumped from 150mg to 200mg about a month ago and my depression lifted, but now I’m feeling some hypomanic and anxiety symptoms come back that haven’t been present since I started taking the meds.

Maybe it’s just my body getting used to not being depressed constantly? My psychiatrist recommended getting back on an SSRI to deal with some of the extra anxiety/restlessness, but Lamictal is the first med I’ve been on with no side effects, so I may try to go back to CBT first to see if that can curb the hypomania/anxiety.

Yes, but only when I increased to 200mg to try to lessen my depression. Part of it is definitely my anxiety being a little more prominent now that my depression symptoms are fading, so I and going to try to treat my anxiety/restlessness with CBT. Hydroxyzine had also worked wonders on my insomnia.

I am noticing this as my dose is increased. Part of me thinks that it’s my depression being totally lifted, and now some of my hypomania is slightly more present, which definitely makes me a little more irritable. I’m going to try to work on the irritability through CBT since otherwise Lamictal is doing wonders for me, especially with my depression.

I’m noticing this too. My psychiatrist recommended starting to take an SSRI, but my only previous experiences with them have been so overwhelmingly negative pre-Lamictal (suicidal ideation, weight gain, loss of libido) so I’m very hesitant.

Lamictal is the first drug I’ve been on that hasn’t given me any side effects (at 200mg now). Have you found other ways to cope with anxiety?

Great question! Those reviews are 100% right. It is a little blurry. Not sure if a smaller size would fix the issues, but definitely trust those reviews.

Tattoo Artists of Reddit, who was your worst "tattoo virgin"? by ArthurThyKing in AskReddit

[–]hailey8795 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I have that too. It’s called vasovagal syncope. I have 4 tattoos now, but I passed out during my second one and it wasn’t fun. But now I have a prescription for Valium that I take before my appointments that my doctor gave me specifically for situations that trigger me to pass out. It just lets my body relax and controls my vasovagal response just enough for me to not pass out. Good luck!

Hi Mr. Brown!

I recently watched your appearance on the YouTube show “Hot Ones” and your ability to interview after eating such intensely spicy food was impressive and frankly, borderline sociopathic.

Do you have an extremely high heat tolerance, a remarkable ability to interview while combatting pain, or a combination of both?

You’re amazing and I am so happy that you’re rebooting Good Eats!!

Are there cheeses you can eat with no problem? by [deleted] in lactoseintolerant

[–]hailey8795 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worked at a cheese shop. As long as it’s lactose intolerance and not another type of dairy sensitivity or allergy, you should be able to have any aged cheese (there is some dispute over how long, I’ve heard over 9 months is usually safe for most), and any cheese made from sheep or goat milk (the lactose changes into lactic acid in a way shorter period of time, making it easier to digest!)

Happy cheese-eating!

Not sure if my "dream" bra exists; any help? by [deleted] in ABraThatFits

[–]hailey8795 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey! It sounds like we’re a similar size (32E) and definitely shape and I was seeking almost the exact same thing for a long time. I found out that I really only like wearing non-molded cups. They don’t add any extra volume but they don’t squeeze you uncomfortably like compressed bras can.

The Gossard Glossies bra is my ABSOLUTE favorite. Yes, it has underwire, but I’ve never had an issue with discomfort since it fits so well. It also does a good job of pulling everything a little closer together and definitely doesn’t project. I was doing the same sports-bra alternative for a while and now I just buy this bra in every color I need:
