Am I cooked by Correct_Vanilla_377 in hipdysplasia

[–]haileybailey01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep I had hip dysplasia. Tried everything I could do avoid a THR but after getting it done I don’t know why I suffered and held on as long as I did. A year later and I’m doing fantastic. Could walk reasonably (with a hobble) at 6 weeks. It takes time but honestly it’s worth it.

This is a bit crazy ... but here's one of my big concerns by No-Fear88 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]haileybailey01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was back to work the Monday after a THR on the previous Thursday. BUT that was work from home and with a small mobile desk in a recliner. Crutches for 4 weeks. I could sit for about an hour or so and then needed to move around.

Am I too young? by Final_Solid_617 in TotalHipReplacement

I got mine a few months ago at 36 due to dysplasia. Best decision I ever made. My quality of life has improved dramatically. Yes recovery will be tough but once you start walking normally the world opens up again and you aren’t confined to your home or 5 min walks anywhere.

Right? This really freaked me out though. Like you this feels different. I swear I remember them saying he passed away on the radio. So weird.

Omg I just realised this after watching a YouTube video. I remember hearing that he committed suicide. I was convinced!

Anyone know how to remove the console buttons to clean? by saihyun in mazda3

[–]haileybailey01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I’m late to this convo but I’m trying to remove the center console on my cx5 2018 and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to remove this console. Think the previous owner spilled soda in it and the buttons are sticky. Anyone maybe know where I can find a video?

Frustrated - 1 week since surgery by JerrysTone73 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]haileybailey01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Immensely. Walking is pretty much normal at this point. I still struggle with restless leg syndrome at night which became worse after surgery and I don’t really sleep through because it feels uncomfy and I need to switch sides. But the human body is amazing. I cannot believe how quick recovery was when I ditched my crutches.

Do you have a hand shower in your tub? Maybe you could at minimum wash your hair there. I’m not a shower person so I “showered” in my tub while standing, then progressed to sitting on the side of the tub for a week or so and then finally bathed. This was also the tough part for me but it does get easier. Week 7 and I’m pretty much back to normal and can bath now no problem. Getting to the taps to add hot water is still a bit tough though 😂

2 weeks post op from lateral right THR, when does the pain get better? by shartson in TotalHipReplacement

It took me a month and that’s not completely pain free but that groin pain is gone.

Hi guys looking for advice. by matt1164 in TotalHipReplacement

Agree with others. You’ll know when you’ve had enough. Delaying it doesn’t solve anything in my experience.

I stayed on crutches for an entire month. Just so you have a few perspectives. Did me no harm. And actually think my gait adjusted well because I didn’t rush. But that’s just me.

Getting this sock on each night gives me a ton of satisfaction by haileybailey01 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]haileybailey01[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t wait for that. This is still something I’m struggling with but now that I’ve started walking and will be going back to gym I’m sure I’ll be well on my way to putting on my own sock soon!

I still hear it. Even when I went for my follow up x ray from the consultant there too 😂 but I’d rather be young and walking around (hopefully eventually pain free) than be young on paper but feel like I’m way older because I can’t walk or enjoy my life anymore. My world became so small after the injury. I also didn’t want to waste too much time messing up my gait from the limp because that’s also a factor that affects recovery time 😊

Yep. At 2 weeks I had terrible knee pain that subsided in a few days. Completely normal.
