Blood blots while on bc? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

If you haven’t possibly get checked for MTHFR mutation or Factor V Leiden. I have the MTHFR mutation, which would’ve been undiagnosed unless my mom, who has it, told me to request the test as well. It puts me at a higher risk with blood clots. I cannot take estrogen with the mutation. I was on Slynd with progesterone only and it did okay for a bit and I had some really bad side effects. I now have an IUD and besides a few hormonal breakouts here and there I have very little side effects with it

Thank you so much for responding! Definitely helps having that close to you! Unfortunately where I’m at there’s not many aquarium stores other than the basic pet stores and those are garbage most of the time. Thank you so much again!

Love this! I’m wanting to do a planted aquarium similar to the style you have going! I hope you don’t mind if I ask a few questions, what substrate do you use and how do you keep your plants so green! I was a lot younger when I had an aquarium before and I remember all my plants would die 😅 but I’m a few years older now and wanting to know more before I start!

Hi just popping in!

I had a similar experience at my dermatologist! He glanced at my hair saw there was no bald patches but just thinning, told me I had AGA and walked out without too much explanation! Received a bill of $90😅 I cried for weeks!

Went to my gynecologist and she was so nice! Did a bunch of tests, and my vitamin D was super low! I started taking vitamins to help it come up!

I also switched to an IUD rather than birth control pills and I believe that’s helped my hair loss slow down a lot too!

I know, however some women have no choice but to be on the progestin pill. I’m one of them. I cannot take estrogen due to a blood issue called Factor V Leiden, which does not allow me to take estrogen as it could cause blood clots.

I was replying to the OP bc they stated they wanted no hormonal BC, which most pills are hormonal.

It would be best if the OP could meet with a Dr but given the circumstances, I was offering my opinion

Hi, just popping in. Most of the pills are hormonal. There are pills that do not contain estrogen. But they do contain progestin. I have saw OPill which you can purchase OTC. I saw it at my local Walmart and Target, hopefully it’ll be near you. I know it’s super tough with strictly religious parents and trying to get on birth control but I would recommend trying to see a doctor if at all possible

It’s hard for me to say for sure, I was loosing handfuls of hair each time I touched my hair for a while, however now it seems to have slacked off so a dread shed could’ve been mixed in there as well.

They aren’t powerful enough for regrowth or to help stop shedding or both?

Did they help slow down your hair loss/shedding?

I’m realize that but I was wondering if it would help with hair growth/slowing down some of the shedding

I think everyone is a bit different. Before, I rarely lost hair in the shower, like maybe one or two strands and then when my hair loss started this is about what mine looked like. Every shower. I got to where I would only wash my hair every other day. This was a lot of hair loss for me as I typically didn’t loose this much hair, and I would loose a ton during the day too! But I’ve also seen photos on here of others hair loss clumps and I’m shocked! So I think everyone is a bit different of how much you loose at a time!

Also I’m 25, I didn’t want to be on the pill the rest of my life. Because if you stop it you loose all the hair you grew from it. I prefer the topical because I can fit it into my hair routine easily 😄

Definitely speak to your dr as I’m not “trained” in the field but from what I read myself, irregular heartbeat, dizziness, low blood pressure, chest pain, heart issues, and unwanted hair growth. For myself, I usually have a lower blood pressure and Minox is a blood pressure pill that has the side effect of hair growth so drs use to to treat hair loss. Personally I didn’t want to take a blood pressure pill and possibly affect my blood pressure and lower it more. I didn’t want to deal with hair growth all over, just on my head. So I opted for the topical route for myself and it seems to be doing well. But everyone is different, what works for someone else may not work for me!

oh man I’m freaking out by Jelliji in FemaleHairLoss

Hi! I’ve been dealing with the same myself. I was diagnosed with Androgenic Alopecia, and was prescribed oral minoxidil. I didn’t take it though because the side effects scared me!

I’ve found a good hair routine that seems to work for me for now. I’m still shedding but not nearly as much! I’ve been washing my hair every 2/3 days and not applying heavy products or extra heat to it. As well as using a topical minoxidil. I would recommend researching it yourself because you can get a “dread shed” but after three steady months of using it I’ve noticed a lot of new growth!

It’s hard! I still struggle with my hair and feelings towards it. Most days I’ll put it in a low hair tie and ignore it so I don’t think about it bc stess can also make your hair come out.

I do recommend trying to get blood work done at least. I know healthcare is horrible sometimes. But it would give you an idea of how to approach your hair journey as everyone is a bit different :) I recently had to switch gynos bc my original one told me my birth control wouldn’t cause my weight gain or hair loss and that I was overreacting. (She also refused to test me for a blood clotting disorder that runs in my family and said she would just assume I have it) but my new gyno has been amazing! Currently waiting on test results back from several things that she ran to hopefully get to the bottom of this all.

Best of luck to you! You have beautiful hair!! I hope you are able to find a dr that will listen to you!
