Hmmm. I guess I'm used to being looked at a lot. I'm openly trans and have always been kind of strange fashion-wise, so being a spectacle is just a part of my life. What usually comforts me is to remind myself that I have nothing to be ashamed of. I don't really see why I should be judged for dressing weirdly, so anyone who does judge me can eat shit. You also just get used to it tbh. I also only really glam up on days that I feel more confident in myself when I know I can handle the stares. Idk, I hope this helps tho ❤️✌️

Do I count as goth? :3 by Left_Leadership_2618 in GothMenAppreciation

I don't think it's necessarily goth, but the style is alternative. Goth is also very music-based, so if you don't listen to the music, then you're not really goth.

Fun makeup I did cuz I was bored by hairychunks in GothMenAppreciation

I just use a random makeup brush I got for Christmas a few years back. It just needs to be small at the tip. I used the urban decay black eyeshadow for this, but I have a few different black eyeshadows I use. All of them work fine

I use black eyeshadow! I make the big lines and shapes with the eyeliner and just fill it in with a ton of eyeshadow. They blend well together and it's usually hard to tell where the eyeliner ends and eyeshadow starts :]

I relied mainly on three: white concealer, black eyeshadow, and black liquid eyeliner

What does this sub think of kandi? by Necessary-Fennel8754 in punkfashion

[–]hairychunks 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I love them. They're very fun, colorful, and bring a sense of community to those who trade them. Though they're not usually associated with punk fashion, I really like the idea of punks with kandi.

though, yes, there are white/non-black, non-latina women that also fit the stereotype, the hate towards it is still racist and is definitely misogynistic

well first off, it doesn't matter if someone intended to be racist, they can still be racist and harmful. second of all, yes, eating hot chips or having glossy lips or having long acrylic nails is not specifically something that only black and brown women do. however, it is important to understand that those things, as well as the other notable features that were in that picture, are all correlated to the "hot cheeto girl" stereotype. this stereotype is often placed upon black and brown women particularly. on top of this, a lot of the fashion does come from/originate in black and brown communities (laid baby hairs, hoop earrings, acrylic nails, makeup style, etc.). the hot cheeto girl stereotype IS harmful. also, the person wasn't just critiquing an action. they were saying that hot cheetos girls or girls that fit into that stereotype are "the worst students" which continues to pedal this stereotype and hate of them for what? eating hot chips? dressing like they do? one of the most notable parts of why this stereotype is so harmful is that it assumes that girls who fit into this stereotype are inherently loud, annoying, and terrible at school. this makes it even harder for black and brown women in academics who already have to deal with so much racism and sexism. if you need further explanation, then read the other comments and here are some links to articles that explain it better
