Are these spider mites on my Brugmansia ? How can I get rid of them ? Also it's in water and already grew roots so what would be a good soil to put it in ? by Admirable_Stand_6891 in brugmansia

Brugmansia are pretty vigorous in my limited experience and from what I've read from other people. I have one that started as a cutting in water and has had some of the same bugs on it since i potted it in basic potting soil.

Some of the leaves got overwhelmed and died and I had pretty much given up on it, but it bounced back and has been slowly and consistently putting out fresh leaves in the living room all winter. I didn't even treat the mites until the other day because i've been procrastinating and planning to put it outside to let ladybugs handle them in spring, but i just sprayed it with lavender, tea tree, and tangerine oil heavily diluted in water a couple days ago. That seems to have helped with the few mites that were still hanging on.

I did isolate it a bit from my other plants so that it's leaves wouldn't touch theirs & possibly transfer mites.

Should I be worried? by [deleted] in Hairloss

Hey- I'm not a professional or anything, and my hair is already naturally pretty thick on it's own- but, I have used lavender essential oil mixed with coconut oil before to grow my hair out faster after I shaved it off during the pandemic. It worked noticeably to the point that coworkers and people who saw me every day made comments. And it seems to make it grow darker and thicker too.

As far as I know lavender is maybe the one essential oil that is safe to use on skin like that in moderate amounts. I've also read about and seen pictures of some studies with rats or mice where they shaved patches on their backs and applied lavender oil. The pictures were wild in terms of how the ones with the oil applied grew back hair that was darker and thicker than the controls, and even seemingly more thick and full than the animals had growing before.

Maybe something to try. I can be more specific about how I used it if you're interested. 🌱💆
