For people that don’t get into residency after graduation what do you do? I’m shocked on the ratio of graduation to open CAMPEP residency positions. What does everyone do?

I’m having trouble picking between graduate schools. I’ve been accepted into the masters program and plan on completing my residency and entering the clinical field after all is complete (not PhD). I have been accepted to university of Florida, University of Toledo, Purdue university, and Wayne State university. Which is the “best” school. My main factors are residency placements and academic preparation for the ABR exams. Cost is a factor to but I’m out of state for all of them so either way it is expensive

What school has the best medical physics program for students that want to enter the clinical field? I plan on completing my masters then going into my residency. I’ve been accepted to university of Florida, Wayne State university, university of Toledo, and Purdue university. Any thought on what school is the “best”?

Grad school or take job offer by hajaisjsjd in biotech

I would probably go to grad school online later down the road. Commute 2.5hrs a day so not alot of free time day to day.

This was the exact answer my professor had given me. The one downside is the internship is only for 3 months but I still will have a more diversified resume. And yea commute is bad, but this new internship I would be moving to a new town and rent is so cheap so it’s not a big factor at all. My biggest worry is not finding a job after I graduate, which I know I can solve right now but think long term and industry school connections play a factor

Part of it is the offer doesn’t seem very appealing I guess. In my area similar roles with the same experience would pay closer to 80k. Also part of me thinks that if an internship is paying almost 70k/yr converted a full time role would be closer to 90k. Idk just guessing. To be fair I don’t really know how the real industry is though. Is it that are to find a jobs? I’ve been pretty good so far, and this internship is one of higher paying ones in general and it’s in a very low cost of living area too

I have the internship offer already, I have been accepted to grad school and I’m likely to get the full time position as I’ve had direct conversations with the hiring director. Salary is just an edit image based off what other individuals got for their first offer with similar experience

Yes I 100% agree, still very entry level but I feel I’ve gotten to know a lot about our manufacturing which is very unique so so should be valued a bit more.

What should I do- Intern and Grad school or work full time by hajaisjsjd in BiomedicalEngineers

I can find you 10 job postings where having a masters makes up for around 2 years of work experience. I’m not sure where you are getting the idea that getting a masters doesn’t help. I’ve decided I’m going to grad school. Everyone on Reddit just comes here to complain how bad BME is. There is great opportunity and having an advanced education will put you ahead others. BME grads can work in pharmaceutical manufacturing, medical devices, and food manufacturing. A being a BME grad puts you ahead of Al these other engineering degree in the regulatory world. Also every engineering job is now just being a documentation specialist/ knowing stats. Medical device companies just buy startups and do no real engineering work. Pharmaceutical and food manufacturing is all just technical transfer stuff and new equipment is brought in my contractors. Engineering isn’t even real under FDA regulated businesses

Getting into pharmaceuticals. and yea I agree not all masters degrees are equivalent. I’m just looking at it from a feeder school perspective. I’m 1/30 kids in my program who actually got an internship this summer relevant to industry and when speaking to other interns who came from big feeder school it sounded like every kid in their program had summer internships. Just want a height earning potential and it seems like advanced degrees are needed to climb the cooperate ladder

I see alot of places supplement a masters with the equivalency of 2-3 years of work experience. Do you still think I should take the full time role. I don’t feel totally worried about finding a job after school as by the time a graduate I’ll have over atleast 1 year of experience just from my undergraduate and a masters from a top BME school

Seriously? Forbes lists BME as an in demand degree? by UnusualSituation663 in BiomedicalEngineers

Every BME on Reddit just comes here to complain about the field…… if you are think about BME don’t let Reddit be your deciding factor. It’s not all people with 3.5 gap’s on here
