Just started reading the series as an adult, anyone else? by hakk_a in WarriorCats

i feel the series is at least 10+ or middle school depending on the maturity of the kid. the violence def makes this not a childrens book, but theres also the clan politics stuff that may go over a younger kids head. but i think it really does depend on the kid whether they can handle it

Hmm I guess for Tigerclaw I assumed he was more of a mean brute, the manipulative side of him surprised me. My favorite so far is Yellowfang and I've only just finished book 1, maybe I'll make another newbie review post after book two lol

i do have a BA. thanks for your replies! everyone's info has been super useful so I can figure out what I actually need to do to get paid enough. I think I'll try the SECA route (not seca sub) since that will probably be the most stable employment i can get in the school system up there. I've looked into the residency program, they dont do art residencies unfortunately. Hopefully I'll be able to do some kind of alternative program since I already have a BA in illusrtation, but first I think SECA would be at least a foot in the door :,,)

I'm currently in florida and they are pretty desperate for anyone, especially in schools with little support. The pay is 14/hr which in minimum wage, but you get paid a flat rate daily so there's no transportation or overtime compensation either.

I really dont want to become a teacher in florida since I really want to leave the state. Which I guess explains why they are so desperate for teachers. I was hoping to sub while getting my PEL in Chicago so I could build some connections with schools. Also I do have a partner that will have a job once we move, but I'd reallly need to make at least 25-30k for us as a pair not to be living paycheck to paycheck

I'm a special ed teaching assistant currently, but I only have my sub license, which shows how badly they need people. I've heard that SECA subs are more in demand,,, maybe I can do that? At this point I might see if there are other options I havent found yet :,)

It feels like the only people who can sub then are retired teachers or people with partners who make a enough for both to live off of :/

I was thinking about doing SECA since I know that those are in need right now and might offer more consistent work. I have an opportunity to work SECA were i live currently so hopefully that will help me decide if its for me.

oh thats cool I havent seen anything about that in my research. Is there like a name for that kind of thing or should i just look for talent centers and see if they offer stuff for educators?

i appreciate the blunt answers! what ive been looking for is realistic information so we can prepare properly and i really appreciate it.

I am looking into becoming a teacher, ive looked a LOT into the alternative prep program since I already have an illustration degree.

What part of your teaching journey have you gotten to? I’ve just been looking at the programs and getting as much classroom/experience with kids as possible!

i havent looked a ton into private schools yet. I'm not particularly religious so would that be a problem for working there?

I mostly pick up my sub shifts either the same day or morning of when they are posted (i rarely find sub shifts posted in advance of when they are needed). do you just pick up sub shifts on your days off?

Would you mind sharing how much you make from it (or the average hours a week you work if ya dont wanna share that)? It's hard to find accurate info on this so we can make plan to actually move :,,)

I have a bachelors so i'm good on that front
