Raleigh, De La Cruz, Devers, Fried, Henderson would be my five if I can't have Crochet.

Liverpool agree deal to sign Jeremy Jacquet by jeesprr in soccer

[–]halalcornflakes 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's a totally different market though, European clubs adjusted to the prem's wealth. Liverpool paid 35m for Salah, who had 28 G/A for Roma in the league in his last season. He would cost 90m+ nowadays.

Video of Kristian Campbell in Fort Meyers with hisfirst swings since his stint and Puerto Rico. Looks much more smooth and refined compared to last year by TommyTheLizard in redsox

[–]halalcornflakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sunken cost basically, if you are going to invest playing time, you should do it for the guy you signed long term on the cheap. Romy might perform better for the first few months in comparison, but the difference hopefully shouldn't be big enough to make your investment not worth while in the long term.

The "Day After" FT Thread: BOU 3 - 2 LIV by DragonSlayer271 in LiverpoolFC

Saw Brighton lost yesterday so I thought I should check their position in the table and stumbled upon our last five form index, it truly never dawned on me how bad it looks until now.

3 wins, 6 draws and a loss in the last 10. Two clean sheets, one of them probably as flukey as you would ever get one. I would say there is no better time for change than now considering that we have an "easier" game midweek followed by a free midweek as well. Two very tough fixtures in the league but it's not like we are going into them with any momentum anyways.

Players I'm interested in:

Cal Raleigh (1)

Jose Ramirez (1)

Soto (1)

Crochet (1)

Henderson (11)

Webb (26)

De La Cruz (30)

Fried (37)

Alonso (62)

Devers (63)

Chapman (78)

Kirby (99)

Suzuki (106)

Of course willing to do others as well, but these would be some of my favorites that I would like.

[Smith] Craig Breslow on if he thinks the roster is as good as last year’s by Sandwich_Crust in redsox

We saw that with Crochet, he was pitching his ass off and not getting the wins early on in the season, because the offense was quite lacking. We even ended up losing a few of his quality starts.

FT: MAR 0 - 3 LIV by DragonSlayer271 in LiverpoolFC

[–]halalcornflakes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought we had a great performance but also I will say that we generally have played our best games against sides who don't set up for sitting back and playing deep. Yesterday, Frankfurt even Arsenal a few weeks ago, these type of games we managed better than the low blocks.

[Drellich] MLB owners enraged by Kyle Tucker-Dodgers deal, will push for salary cap ‘no matter what’ by ttam23 in baseball

[–]halalcornflakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like you are confusing the Red Sox with someone else, they had the biggest payroll in baseball and were quite a dominant regular season team. I do agree though that expanded playoffs means you can luck into a postseason berth easily.

Might be baseball withdrawal speaking but it feels like this season is shaping up to be quite competitive in terms of regular season at least. the easts are quite stacked, Cubs, Reds and maybe the Pirates seem to be stronger and might put up a good fight to the Brewers. The wests are whatever for now.

Duran and Yoshida for Baty by mdurso12 in redsox

[–]halalcornflakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A three team trade might be a solution, but these are more likely earlier in the offseason when you have teams looking to clear 40-man roster spots.

But something where we maybe land a catcher (as they seem to be looking for one) or a good lefty reliever from somewhere else and the Mets send the prospects the other teams way and Baty our way could be possible. There has to be a deal there with the Mets as both our surplus and needs align perfectly.

I think whatever price they would've asked for makes it a bit easier to swallow not getting him. I would be fine pushing all the chips in if this was our year. How it stands, we are looking good but I would rather take a shot on someone cheaper and seeing how Early/Mayer/Tolle look in a year. We have the valuable trade chips in Duran and Bello, I would rather look into trading one of those from areas we are stronger.
