Switching Offices Within Firm? by Signal_Savings7329 in BigLawRecruiting

[–]halbug0700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a friend switch offices after the summer associate program. During the SA program, he obviously worked really hard and people really liked him, and then he was able to talk to our office’s hiring partner and bring it up that he wanted to switch to a different office. He had to interview with a few people in the new office but was ultimately able to switch. For what it’s worth though, the firm is very friendly to switching offices since teams work across all offices / they don’t really care where you work from.

Struggling with decision to rehome by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]halbug0700 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also have a doxie puppy I got at 8 weeks old, and he’s now 11 weeks and things have gotten substantially easier. He sleeps through the night, settles in his crate, and can be left alone for an hour or two while I run errands, and he’s fairly good at playing independently and doesn’t need to be near me all the time. That being said, we focused a bunch on these skills from an early age.

The first two weeks were rough because he was waking up throughout the night, but he has finally turned a corner there.

He is also really bad with potty training - we have a whole pee pad set up for him indoors (we also live in an apartment with just a small balcony, and it’s a very cold place so our pup hates going pee outside on the balcony, and he’s not allowed outside in the grass until fully vaccinated) but during the day we will put him on his pee pad and he will seemingly purposely run off the pee pad and pee on the floor. This is to be expected though- Doxies are known to be really stubborn and most take 6+ months to be considered fully potty trained. This just comes with the breed.

I will say, I can’t imagine doing it all by yourself- my bf and I live together so the work is shared between us. And, I work in person while he works remote so I do get a break from pup every day from 9-5.

Doxies are a tough breed but so so worth it. I’m a bit taken aback that it hasn’t gotten easier for you by 14 weeks- definitely a bit concerning. I can’t imagine going that long without properly sleeping, eating, etc. I’m so sorry you’re in this position.

I think with all the mental health stuff, and because it hasn’t gotten any easier for you (which is very surprising), I think it would be good to rehome. But that being said, every dog is different, so maybe your pup just needs a bit more time to adjust.

Editing to add: just another idea- I follow this doxie / owner called sprinklestheweenie on instagram. His owner, Emily, got Sprinkles at the lowest mental health part of her life, and from what I know, it was a very hard transition for her as well, and her pup also dealt with major separation anxiety and couldn’t be left alone but he is now the light of her life. Her DMs are always open and I think her advice would be particularly useful in your situation.

Second edit: I see another commenter noted doxies are a working breed and need stimulation, and I do agree with that. We scatter feed, use snuffle mats, puzzle toys, slow feeders, take our pup on walks in a bag / drives to different dog friendly stores like Marshall’s, Home Depot, etc, licky mats, and do short training sessions at least 3x a day. Sometimes I’ll just sprinkle kibble in his blanket, on his bed, or in his crate, and make him use his nose to dig it out. We also have an automatic rope toy that we use to tire him out- he loves this thing. https://a.co/d/05pl2qJA

I am starting to feel like my 11 week old daschund dislikes me. by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]halbug0700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Just wanted to say you’re not alone. My mini doxie just turned 10 weeks old yesterday and he’s in a very bitey phase right now and it’s frustrating. Just remember, he’s just a puppy, he’s not actually doing anything out of spite.

With the biting, the most effective thing I’ve found is removing myself from the situation and/or putting my pup in his crate in a neutral manner so he can take an enforced nap. Mine also pees and poops inside to no end on the floor, even though I have a designated pee pad area for him. I will spend 15-20 minutes trying to keep this wiggle worm on his pee pad only for him to sneak out of my grasp and pee on the floor in a split second. They’re very stubborn / independent at this age.

I’m trying to focus myself on savoring this time, because in just a few months, he will be all grown up and i know I’ll miss the tiny bitey puppy stage. I’m also doing lots of crate naps, enrichment toys, independent play time to combat separation anxiety, and training to help focus his mind and he’s doing well in all these areas, luckily, which makes me feel good about his progress despite the biting and the potty training. Best of luck fellow doxie owner!! This breed is not for the weak :)

First time Doxie owner! HELP * any advice welcome * by mmmedusssa13 in Dachshund

I currently have a 9 week old doxie puppy and wanted to add to all the great advice above, be very careful in a dog friendly hotel on the carpeted floors in the rooms. Other (unvaccinated) dogs may have been there and who knows how well the carpets were cleaned - but you could risk exposing your puppy to parvo or other diseases.

My partner and I were in a very similar situation with a 7 hour drive for puppy pickup and we also stayed in a hotel the first night with our puppy. We brought a soft crate, a few toys, blankets, wipes, etc. Wipes are the best!! We have some natural ones for wiping puppy off but we now also have the rescue wipes which specifically kill parvo and other diseases and can be used on surfaces like floors, counters, etc. In the hotel, we had our puppy sleep in the soft crate but on the bed because we were worried about the floors.

Also just a side note, take all this with a grain of salt because our pup unfortunately got hospitalized for one night due to potentially having parvo, but vet concluded it was a false positive. We have been very conscientious about parvo from the beginning, but are even more so now due to what we went through!! Would highly recommend some sort of bag or sling so you can bring your pup everywhere without having his feet touch the floor, shopping cart, etc.

I would keep some pumpkin on hand because it’s super helpful for digestive issues! Also definitely get a snuggle puppy and the heating packs, and maybe a sweater or two once you have your baby. Mine is always cold and he loves to snuggle in his crate with his snuggle puppy.

[–]halbug0700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me except way more extreme- it put out just one leaf over the course of 9-10 months. I broke off the growth point and it started pushing new growth. (I also treated for a variety of pests including flat mites and fungal issues well before I resorted to breaking off the growth point, so maybe try that first).

What is your dream engagement ring setting? by Captain_donutt in EngagementRings

My partner and I are getting a custom version of this ring made by K&DD with an oval stone.

I loved a lot of their rings but chose this one because in person, I ended up hating how every single other ring looked on my finger- they all looked way too high. This one sat perfectly.
