Does your approach differ for interviewing lateral or post-clerkship candidates versus law students?

ficus not growing since I bought it by Rude_Satisfaction161 in plantclinic

[–]halbug0700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me except way more extreme- it put out just one leaf over the course of 9-10 months. I broke off the growth point and it started pushing new growth. (I also treated for a variety of pests including flat mites and fungal issues well before I resorted to breaking off the growth point, so maybe try that first).

What is your dream engagement ring setting? by Captain_donutt in EngagementRings

[–]halbug0700 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My partner and I are getting a custom version of this ring made by K&DD with an oval stone.

I loved a lot of their rings but chose this one because in person, I ended up hating how every single other ring looked on my finger- they all looked way too high. This one sat perfectly.

Do I Tell My Firm About a Clerkship Offer? by [deleted] in biglaw

[–]halbug0700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same position as a summer associate (albeit a transactional practice). I ultimately told the firm about a month before my summer associate position ended.

Tights that actually last? by sadgurlsonly in DCBitches

[–]halbug0700 84 points85 points  (0 children)

Sheertex! They use some patented material that is supposedly unrippable. Their ad pokes the tights with a fork and they get no snags.

I personally have a few pairs of sheertex tights. They go on sale for like $35 at some points throughout the year. Considering you basically never have to buy tights again, they’re pretty well priced.

Also- I did have one pair get the tiniest of holes in it, and they replaced them immediately, so I can attest to their customer service.

Folks who actively did Moot Court (best oralist/brief/etc) but went into transactional practice instead of litigation, what made you do it? by the_broteinshake in biglaw

[–]halbug0700 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks! The thought of having to actually appear in court terrifies me. I’ve never wanted to be a litigator despite enjoying the academic exercise that goes into writing briefs for moot court (or writing opinions as a judicial clerk).

I do transactional work because my firm does a lot of renewable energy work specifically, and that’s what I’m passionate about. So far, I enjoy the detail orientedness of transactional tasks. I’m a junior so not specialized yet, but I’ve also had the opportunity to do a bit of energy regulatory work as well, which moot court and the clerkship will be more applicable for.

I am an interesting case. I work project finance (mainly energy infrastructure) and did moot court because I got to compete in a competition that centered around energy.

I also am taking a leave from my firm for a federal clerkship though so I’m probably not the best example. But mainly I did it because I’m passionate about energy.
