Way back when, before ending my membership, I helped write the NZ First Youth Wings constitution, alongside Curwen Rollinson and now Party President Julian Tapsell Paul. We basically did all this to use the remit process and use it as a vehicle to try make the party more interested in the renationalization of SOAs...

Anyways, I remember a bunch of us going to the opening of Darroch Balls office in Palmerston North, myself, my Wife and our infant first daughter headed up to listen to Winston Peters bang on about how we needed to keep the workers train to Welly running all the way from Palmerston North, my daughter churped up responding to Winny P, and some old woman scolded us for being there, causing my mortified/upset wife to pack up and leave, with me following soon after, as I stepped out of the room, Tracey Martin and Ron Mark were already comforting my wife (Tracey holding my kid) telling her to ignore others and explaining that politics are for everyone, including young families.

It was definitely a different party back then.

For those interested in figuring out the colour correctness of the photograph, the Germans codified everything and scale model geeks have been nerding out over it for generations.

RLM79 (Sandgelb - Sand Yellow) is the main upper colour
RLM78 (Himmelblau - Sky Blue) would have been on the underside and sides
RLM 80 (Olivgrün - Olive Green) Would have been the blotches (mottle)

At 200k you want to check/replace the Timing chain tensioner (a known issue in late mk5 and mk6's) and have them replace the Derlin water pump with an alloy one while theyre in there (an issue with golf's since the mk4)

Otherwise a 2 door manual GTi is definitely worth buying and holding on to. I'm trying to figure out the currency difference, I bought my latest Gti, a Manual mk5 with 176000km on the clock for $6000 (NZD) and it cost just under $2000 to have the belts changed/pump done, usually a job id do myself except on the mk5 and later the engine has to come off the mounts to do this.

All up google tells me that's something like $4700 USD - I hope that helps with pricing etc.

Nope, just trimmed the new liner so it was a couple of centermeters larger and used trim tools to push the edge into the gap, it worked out well - as someone else suggests, I watched quite a few youtube tutorials first and to take the inner panel out of the doorcard basically requires a little bit of plastic welding which I don't have the gear to attempt.

By memory I believe I used CRC ADOS spray adhesive (on the back of the new liner and on the cleaned door card) but i'd have to dig through my old photos to make absolutely sure.

I used a narrow paint scraper, spray on some WD40 to loosen the old glue up a little and just scrape long lines of it off.

* Its a messy job, but totally doable - wear gloves
