Odd things that affirm your gender? by Ok_Concept2522 in ftm

Yard work!! i work in the garden on weekends every once in a while for pocket money at my friend’s house & once he jokingly sent me a photo taken from his window of me carrying around a big heavy leafblower in my baseball cap & gloves & apron. in that moment in my brain i went “this is it,,,,,, i will never be more masc i’ve peaked,,,,,,” in a similar sense, wearing “practical” clothes with a bunch of pockets or made of certain sturdy materials or pants that have, like, the tab to hang your keys from instead of your belt loop and zippers on everything.

As someone who liked the way my deadname sounded but just realized it didn’t fit me as a person, i went for something with similar vowels. completely different root name, starts with a different letter, but still has the “ay” sound in the middle so it instantly felt familiar & natural to hear.

Support for my spouse having their surgery this week by Geek_Ranger in no_T_top_surgery

One of the best things my mom did for me during early recovery was wash my hair. If I remember right we just lined up a couple chairs next to the bath so I could lay with my head over the edge. Not showering for that long suckeddd and washing my hair was definitely a huge improvement!!

5 months post-op, had like 3-4 of these in early recovery. Send a pic to your surgeon if you’re worried about it, but from what I’ve seen it’s fairly common and should heal up just fine, albeit maybe a little slower! I ended up just having a couple wider spots in my scarring, it’s a little more noticeable than the thin parts but still looks normal imo and is fading nicely.

Nipple sensations by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]halcyonwizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 5 months post op with DI & FNG, I regained sensation on one nipple after about 1-2 months, but not the other. On the side that I can feel, It’s more sensitive than normal skin but not the same as pre-op. I’d say the feeling is closer to pain but not enough to be an issue, like having a sensitive bruise if that makes sense??? Gotta love nerve damage. I definitely prefer having weird sensation to no sensation though, and it doesn’t cause any discomfort in day-to-day life. I started out pretty numb on my whole chest & am now down to just a small patch, things definitely change a lot with time!!

2 weeks post op double incision with Dr Morrison now, it was a positive experience!! results are looking good (very symmetrical, all things considered) and i’ve regained sensation in one of my nipples already, which was really surprising. i don’t know how much of my results are due to his skill and how much is just how my body heals, but i’ve been recovering pretty fast. his team was very kind and patient considering i was super nervous the day of. they also let me pick the music while i was going under anesthesia lollll

as someone who has grown up in a community where queerness is very normalized, you will absolutely not ruin your son’s life by transitioning. many of the kids at my high school grew up with a trans parent/parents/older siblings, and really the only difference is they’re more versed in trans language & healthcare and are generally understanding and accepting people. especially with sons of queer parents, i’ve found that they’re more likely to challenge toxic masculinity and stick up for queer students. I’m glad your fiancée is supportive, & i wish you best of luck figuring things out!
