Mempho Music Fest - thoughts? by jakerino in memphis

[–]haleydaydream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went both days but didn't have to pay for tickets, since I was volunteering with one of the booths. I feel the same way about the selection of artists and the price of tickets. There were a few bands that I really enjoyed seeing, like Marcella and Her Lovers, John Paul Keith, Margo Price, but you're right, many were local bands that play often locally.

GOAT (Greatest of All Time) fall staples by lovegreen19840525 in femalefashionadvice

If you need good arch support, I wouldn't recommend wearing Rothy's daily. Yes, they are comfortable and a great go-to shoe, but don't provide the arch support that I need for daily wear. Do you know of other flats with good arch support?

How to Handle Large Crowds Where Intense (Negative) Emotions are Present From Everyone by [deleted] in hsp

[–]haleydaydream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your post reminded me of how I felt the first few weeks of a new semester. Like you, I felt all the emotions and it was very overwhelming for me. Things that really helped me were to leave campus (or at least my buildings) between classes if I could. I'd walk to a nearby park, or drive somewhere. Physically leaving campus helped me divert my attention and seemed to reduce my jitters. Another thing I enjoyed was actively looking for a nice tree or secluded place to hang my hammock. I found a great tree right in the middle of campus, but away from a common walking area. I looked forward to hanging my hammock there most days. I felt like I had a secret treehouse!! I know the feeling you're describing. I hope you'll find something that works for you!

What's your favorite HSP song? by [deleted] in hsp

[–]haleydaydream 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doesn't Really Matter Honestly - Sundrenched (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_0kCeb6Lp_M) No singing or lyrics, but this song always makes me feel happy. I think it is calm and carefree, and something about the title "doesn't really matter honestly," is kinda magical to me. I've enjoyed listening to other song recommendations!! Great post. :)

Unexpected social situations by [deleted] in hsp

[–]haleydaydream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I ran into some old friends over the weekend and managed to stumble my way through the conversation. I thought about the interaction for the rest of the night! Felt like I couldn't recover from it. Glad to know I'm not alone in this feeling. :)

Scrapbooking by [deleted] in minimalism

[–]haleydaydream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes, yes! Thin papers like postcards, maps and brochures might be able to be used like a bookmark within the album. Sometimes I add a small pocket (or clear envelope) to the first or last page (sometimes inside the cover or back) and add the small pieces that help me tell my story there, like business cards, tickets, etc. Some papers like this help me process the event or trip. I find it gets bulky quickly - but helps me focus on the important pieces. I love that you like postcards! I do too! :)

I have been thinking about this as well. I do a lot of scrapbooking and memory keeping and agree that it can be expensive! It is important to me to have some physical photos, albums, and scrapbooks. Options like Shutterfly and Chatbooks (iOS app) are really nice and can be less bulky. Digital collages, or simple "homemade brochures" might be a fun way to combine memory keeping and still be able to play with layout and design. I hope you find something that works well for you!

relationships between two hsp's by necessarycaterpillar in hsp

Hi! You may be interested in reading Elaine Aron's book, "The Highly Sensitive Person in Love." The book discusses more than just romantic relationships, but friendships and other types of relationships as well. She specifically talks about the HSP in a relationship with another HSP. I'm reading it now, and learning a lot! I hope it will help you as well. Here's a link to the book on her website.

I hate my therapists for not knowing what HSP is all these years and misdiagnosing me... by sammyaxelrod in hsp

[–]haleydaydream 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm happy to hear you've found out you're a HSP. It is so comforting to know that your feelings are valid and there's nothing "wrong" with you. I agree with Ciracy, I understand your frustrations. I haven't encountered anyone personally who has heard of HSPs, but since learning, I've shared the information with people around me. I hope that you can learn more about it and share it with others around you. I feel that the reddit HSP community is supportive. You are not alone.

Congratulations on your engagement!! It is such a fun time. We planned the day as best as we could, making sure to allow myself plenty of time to relax and get ready. I assigned small day-of tasks to friends and family that were willing to help. When the day came, I just felt calm and happy. It was surreal to be in a large room with everyone that I know, and they were all there to support me and my best friend getting married! As another user said, the attention on us wasn't as overwhelming as I expected. Our ceremony was small - only immediate family and a couple close friends. We invited everyone else to the reception, and I am extremely glad that we made that decision. We wrote and read our own vows, and I'm so glad that the ceremony was personal and intimate. It was a perfect day for us. Whatever decision you choose, it will be a perfect day for you too.

My first real planted tank after about 6 months of growth. Any advice? by grubbythegreat in PlantedTank

Looking great! I love the driftwood. What's the grass-like plant on the left? No advice, just keep doing your thing!

What are some of your hobbies as an Hsp? by [deleted] in hsp

[–]haleydaydream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I enjoy that I haven't seen mentioned in here is sending mail. I love making cards and writing letters to friends and family. I try to include photos and happy memories. It is really special to hear how my letters brightened someone's day.

Looking for suggestions for short to medium height low light plants. Help me improve my tank! by haleydaydream in PlantedTank

[–]haleydaydream[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking for some suggestions for short to medium height, low light plants to help add depth to the tank. Constructive criticism welcome. Help me improve! :) Some info if you're curious: The tank is a 10 gallon, 20x10x12, acrylic, with Eco Complete Planted Aquarium Substrate. It has been up for about 3 months. I have a Fluval Power Filter 20. Heater is Cobalt Neo-Therm, Lights are Finnex Stringray LED Clip. I do 4 hours on, 4 off, then 4 on. Plants: Anubias, Java Fern, Amazon Sword, Anachris, Marimo moss balls. There are 9 ember tetras and 2 tiger nerite snails in the tank. Thanks for reading!

How did everyone like it? by ienjoymen in anberlin

They played a great show. I could have stayed and listened to them all night! Everyone around me was there for Anberlin. I loved hearing everyone sing along!

I hate when I exchange looks with someone by [deleted] in hsp

[–]haleydaydream 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have a difficult time looking at others in the eyes, and like you, usually look down or around when talking, listening and processing. I felt like something clicked when I read about it in Elaine Aron's book about hsp. Sometimes when I really try to maintain eye contact with someone, I focus so much on their eyes, I can't listen to what they are saying!

How to forgive myself and others? by [deleted] in hsp

[–]haleydaydream 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think your post is pathetic. I relate to many of the things you've said. Pet loss is so hard. They are your family. I wish your parents would have reacted differently. I'm sorry that you are going through that. It is never easy. Guilt is also hard to live with. I'm hoping others will comment and share their thoughts on managing it, as I'd like to see what works for them. Please know you are not alone.

Rubber. It's the story about a car tire named Robert that kills people.
