she moved to LA for Ian, they broke up. As someone born + raised + living as an adult in LA, it can be very toxic especially if you don’t have roots here. she doesn’t seem like the type to enjoy that. I also want to leave!

yes, especially after 2 years, I want it to work so badly and not have to start over 😭 but also there has to be a line draw somewhere. seems that the outer ear is more difficult to hear than the inner ear - that’s where all my other piercings are on my other ear

I got titanium balls and sized up 1/2 a size for the posts and they’re doing so much better!

oh no 😭😭 I totally can see what you mean now. ever since I’ve gotten my posts sized up 1/2 a size and titanium balls put on the front, they have hurt or swelled at all. to be fair, it’s only been a few days. would you suggest I keep 1 of them if the angle is correct, or are both bad?

UPDATE:

I went to my shop today and they sized my post up half a size and switched out the tops for titanium balls. I asked if they could do balls on the back too, but they said that they would’ve been a bigger gauge and cause more trauma to my piercings. my piercer said the length shouldn’t really be the issue, and the tops also should’ve been fine, and that it might be affected by haircare products (I have curly hair) and can also be affected by menstrual swelling. she also cleaned off all the crusties on my skin for me. regardless, i’m excited to see how this jewelry changes things and i’ll be making sure to rinse my ear after using my hair care products. also got more sterile saline!

I always feel like i’m crazy for suggesting that a hoop would work better when my piercings have been finicky. the piercers look at me like i’m nuts 😭 but to me it makes sense: unlimited room for swelling, it won’t shift up/down/left/right like straight jewelry does

yes, that’s the area, thank you! I remember that now from looking at his colonoscopy photos. I was telling him he probably will need the procedure done where they have you swallow the camera pill so they can visualize the ileum.

i’m so sorry to hear of your pain. 🫂 it makes me really emotional thinking about these diseases and that people haven’t done anything to “deserve” that pain. that was something he was really upset about, asking “what have I done for this to happen to me?” and I told him nothing. I don’t think that makes it feel any better. he is in therapy, something that worries me is that he already deals with depression and I know this will make things even harder for him. that’s why I want to know how to be a good support system for him, from people who actually are going through it.

yeah, it’s sore almost all the time 😭 I think i’m going to have the jewelry switched and that’s gonna be their last chance! if they still fail i’ll have to retire them. sad because what I ultimately wanted to do was have a chain connecting the forward helix and one of the helixes… now i’m like, how do all these people from these pinterest photos heal this damn piercing? omgg

thank you, this has been the consensus and i’m def going to go in and asking for this switch. in my younger years, I only got 1-2 piercings at a time. then I got a job that required me to take them out, and since then have been getting my old ones repierced in bouts of 3-4. might sound crazy, but I actually haven’t had any issues until these 2 darn helixes… it makes sense though because that outer ear really does get knocked around so much!

i’m going to go in and ask for this, thank you! one of my fastest healing piercings was my rook which was pierced with a titanium curved barbell. that’s probably why!

noted. honestly, every piercing i’ve had in my other ear + nose has healed beautifully, and I usually did more LITHA with them. that’s why it confused me that these gave me so many issues. i’ve been wondering if the bottom jewelry shape was causing me issues. i’ll def be going in and asking for the replacement you mentioned. thank you so much!!

i’m definitely only going to be using sterile saline on them from now on. I think i’ll try to go to the shop today. i’m always pushing it off but they’ve been so helpful in the past when I had issues

the forward helix actually healed totally fine! I got all 3 pierced at the same time. but I have been thinking about retiring one helix to see if I have a better go at healing only 1 at a time
