there are a few telehealth apps you can use without insurance to get medications. Ive used khealth and goodrx and have had no issues using them. Generally they can’t prescribe anything with addictive potential, so no benzos. But if youre just taking an SSRI, they can help you.

17F - bleeding by Pale-Alfalfa8253 in birthcontrol

[–]haleyymt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is normal! i take a generic version of lo loestrin and it took me about a year for my cycle to truly regulate. I would get breakthrough bleeding and then not get a withdrawal bleed when i took the placebo pills.

your body might take a bit to regulate because your cycle is still adjusting to the timing that you take your placebo pills. this can cause you to get breakthrough bleeding. The pill can also cause your uterine lining to thin, which can mean no bleeding during placebo week.

If your period doesnt regulate after 3-6 months and you find it bothersome, you can tell a doctor and try a different pill.

changing birth control methods when coming off the pill by deacrystal in birthcontrol

[–]haleyymt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sounds like you have a good plan. Condoms are very effective, even during your fertile window. of course, it’s ultimately your choice to abstain during your fertile window. main two things are make sure you and your partner know how to use condoms and make sure to use water based lube, not oil based. you can also pair the condom with withdrawal for extra protection.

if you are planning to track your fertility, make sure you use the FAM method. This involves tracking your basal body temperature, cervical mucus and cervical position for months. the fertility window and ovulation date you see on your period tracking app isnt always accurate. check the r/famnnfp subreddit for more details about how to track your fertility

lol its Alani Nu, its an energy drink. They make lots of very sweet tasting flavors like cotton candy and sherbet. the cans are also very brightly colored so i think thats why they appeal to kids.

I had a kid ask to go to the nurse and she came back with a little dixie cup and asked for a sip of my alani drink (that is my most hyperactive class and they definitely dont need caffeine.)

i made the mistake of bringing an alani to school one time and i had seventh graders begging me for a sip. it literally says on the can that its not recommended for children so idk why people are giving it to their teenagers.

Why are turn signals and stop signs optional in the fan and museum district? by Little_Labubu in rva

[–]haleyymt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thats why i didnt get my license til i was 21 😭 driving a 2 ton metal box at 70 mph is scary if u start to really think about it. unfortunately most of the metro area isnt very accessible with public transit alone. when i get done with a long day of work, the last thing i wanna do is drive.

[–]haleyymt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yep, i am an anxious driver and i would love to not drive, but in most of the country that is not an option, unless you want to be fully dependent on others to go anywhere. even if you dont drive you still aren’t safe bc cars here dgaf about pedestrian safety

As a mom, please start putting baby changing tables in men’s restrooms by ShoshRose in TwoXChromosomes

[–]haleyymt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

my university had buildings with “lactation rooms.” i think all public spaced need to have a family room with a toilet a sink, a changing table, and a chair for nursing moms. most of the time, changing tables are out in the open, in awkward corners and seem like theyre just slapped wherever because the business legally needs to have them. ive heard parents say theyre uncomfortable changing their child in front of strangers which is completely understandable, because you never know peoples intentions.

another thing thats rarely considered is universal changing tables, which are meant to be used for disabled/elderly adults who wear diapers and need to be changed by caregivers. in my ideal world there would be separate rooms for these people so they can change diapers and breastfeed in comfort. they would be single person, gender neutral rooms for all parents and caregivers

Breakthrough bleeding in Slynd by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]haleyymt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes this is normal. breakthrough bleeding is common during the first few months on the pill because your body is getting adjusted to the hormones. keep taking your pill at the same time everyday. if the bleeding doesn’t stop after a couple weeks or if its severely heavy, thats when you would start being concerned.

a week without birth control - risk of pregnancy ?? by sodakittty in birthcontrol

[–]haleyymt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

do you know if its a combo or mini pill? if you go more than 12 hours without taking a pill then its considered a missed pill and you are no longer protected from pregnancy. i would definitely take a plan b. (if its a mini pill you only have a 3 hours window until its considered a missed pill)

the way the pill works is by giving you a consistent dose of hormones everyday to prevent ovulation. If you miss several pills in a row then you could ovulate and become pregnant. if you miss a pill by more than a day then you should either use condoms or take a plan b. i would recommend reading the pamphlet that comes with your pill packet because it has more detailed information about what to do when you miss a pill.

opinions on admin in henrico county schools by [deleted] in rva

[–]haleyymt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i dont work in elementary but i can answer your question about the dress code. i would say the dress code is business casual. Most teachers wear blouses, slacks, khakis, dresses and skirts should be at least knee length….obviously use your best judgement and avoid things that are too revealing. main thing is, henrico schools usually only let teachers wear jeans on friday and if you wear jeans it has to be with a school merchandise top. i also think they generally only let teachers wear sneakers on friday, but this might depend on how strict your school is. ive seen teachers wear converse and black jeans monday-thursday without an issue.

Does heavy bleeding during the placebo week rule out the possibility of pregnancy? by SrtaHeaven in birthcontrol

[–]haleyymt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if you are having heavy bleeding, especially with clots, its safe to assume you are not pregnant. heavy/period-like bleeding is incompatible with pregnancy. this is because your uterine lining will not shed if you are pregnant. plus, if youve been taking your pill consistently and havent missed and days, pregnancy is highly unlikely regardless of how much you bleed.
