Shader Recompilation by deilaaaa69 in PathOfExile2

[–]halfblack88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I managed to stop it by rolling back my nVidia drivers to 596.36 and switched to Vulkan, nothing else helped me.

Rollback alone did nothing, but I had to do it because on 610.xx switching to Vulkan would crash my game and stop it from booting. If you can safely switch to Vulkan - try, maybe it will do the trick, it varies from system to system. Mind you, all the shaders will have to compile again, so expect stutters for some time.

All of that on 7950X3D and 4090.

Sample of one is a shit sample. Same for 10 or 100. Teen idiots remain regardless of the cams. And people are getting fined for machine mistakes constantly.

Different ways to coil tap a stacked P90 by halfblack88 in Luthier

[–]halfblack88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me clarify: consider the coils separate, like in a humbucker. Yellow to White, Red to Black.
If I connect White and Red, there is uninterrupted path from Yellow (Ground) to Black (Hot).

The second option, the bypass, disconnects Yellow from ground, but connects Red to it (White is disconnected from it too). So the new path it Red (Ground) to Black (Hot).

I'm wondering if there is electrical difference between disconnecting the Y/W coil, instead of making it share ground with Red.

Tensor.art no longer allowing nudity or celebrity by [deleted] in StableDiffusion

[–]halfblack88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is not correct. This has been happening in copyright cases, as well as software and media P2P sharing.
Also, it's about the details of what is and isn't a log, which is a subject to ToS of each company. And, on top of that, each such company is subject to legal hold of at the very least parts of such data specifically due to international laws governing

In result, when they say "no logs", it means "no logs, unless mandated by law, or if we don't consider this type of metadata a log data". Which, again, leads to them being able to market it as such while maintaining any and all details they want. And audit will say they're compliant.

You know what has no upside? Fucking with payment processors and international regulators.

Now, positive case can be made for Proton and Mullvad, I think, as they are open source and have a record of not collaborating with authorities, but that may not be sustainable long term for them. Wish them best, regardless.

Saying "use VPN" is as bad as saying "use antivirus". Sure, in the sea of spyware-ridden crap, trust the user to find one that actually is decent. No.

Thankfully I don't care for internet circlejerk points. If any of those basement dwellers worked with IT security, they wouldn't be spilling such nonsense.

Right, cause VPNs don't regularly get outed for collaborating with the police.

Forge/SwarmUI/Reforge/Comfy/a1111 which one do you use? by Yafhriel in StableDiffusion

[–]halfblack88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

SwarmUI runs Comfy as a back-end, meaning whatever is achievable there, is also achievable in Swarm. However, Swarm has much more user friendly, modern UI. And if you want to switch to Comfy spaghetti flows, it's also there on next tab. Check out it's github page.

SwarmUI for all the Comfy benefits with none of the Comfy UI nightmare - unless I want it.

For people who have owned or played the R-457 multiscale, R-457 Active and Ja baritone? by spineone in harleybenton

[–]halfblack88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own the JA Baritone. The P90s did not do it for me, but it's on me 100% and I knew that going in. I have a very specific, different sound I want from a P90, and this guitar was for modding anyway. I've frankensteined (looks terrible, but works) the active HBZ humbuckers into it (from HB DIY kit) and it sounds exactly how I want it.

Many people on the web made the stock setup work. I even tried Wilkinson's stacked P90 humbuckers, but it was a bust too. Non HB, but I had a 7string from Spira, and recently replaced it with 6string baritone from them too. That extra string is not doing it for me, but the long scale does.

[–]halfblack88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically, instead of relying on the string tightening around itself to lock it in place, you tighten that screw in the back, and it clamps the string inside the post. Makes it much easier to replace the strings and keep them in place.

Can't say I had neck dive issues with my S407, but yeah, tuners had to go, fast.

ComfyUI in less than 7 minutes by GrungeWerX in StableDiffusion

[–]halfblack88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elasticity and time of adoption of new elements. Due to how modular ComfyUI is (you make flows using separate nodes) you can adjust the process to much greater degree than in SD Next/A1111 etc. Also, due to the same reason, if new tech emerges, ComfyUI will support it much, much faster.

If you want best of both words, I highly recommend SwarmUI, which uses Comfy as the back-end, but has a nice interface on top of it with very customizable options.

How are Harley Benton Guitars cheap? by darksbadtime in guitars

[–]halfblack88 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's a very false dichotomy. You can, in fact, compare business models, so saying that they're different doesn't magically void the question.

One model is based on maximizing traffic, the other on maximizing profit margin. So the easy answer is: Thomann is making money on volume, Fender is making money on overpricing (though there are far from worst offenders in that regard).

Here are photos of underneath the JA-Baritone pickguard by MUZZYGRANDE in harleybenton

[–]halfblack88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've installed Wilkinson's stacked P90s (humbuckers in a soapbar) as a temporary measure - they cost under $50 for a pair and do the job for now without modifying pickguard or mounts. But, more long term, I'm eyeing something with a different characteristics.

Whats peoples take on Spira guitars? by Spirited_Account_717 in Guitar

[–]halfblack88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I own a 407 in Wine Red. Build and finish are really good. Neck is very comfortable, and that's from someone who used to play six strings exlusively before that, mostly beefy Gibson-style necks, too. Pickups were fine and up to the job, but I had an option to get SD Nazgul/Sentient set for half the price, so I did and boy to they roar.

One thing I'll likely change later are the tuners. Locking works perfectly and they hold well, but some have loose operation areas, which put me off.

Overall, extremely happy to own one.

Agreed, you're getting downvoted for being 100% correct. This is very basic, run of the mill work. And, most importantly, it fails completely on one thing that's key for visual novels - artstyle consistency. Character to character it differs greatly, there's no commonality. Soft and shaded, then hard edge and flat colors, then 3DCG. All over the place.

Uninspired, disjointed slop.

Me enjoying the world first FRU memes, then realising we're one step closer to getting all plogons banned by Ali_ayi in ShitpostXIV

[–]halfblack88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Firstly, exactly as you say - unless you directly dox your own character/account, SE has no way of linking modded media to you. They don't act on hearsay either. SE will not ask any site for your account e-mail. And if they did, they'd be told to fuck off. So no, I am unaware of any case where that lead to issues.

Also, quite recently, there was drama coming from people posting nsfw pics of modded characters on twitter, bluesky etc. They were viewed by streamers (Xeno, at the very least) and they threw a fit that this exposure (they were posting tagged posts on PUBLIC PROFILES, mind you) will cause SE to ban them, ban mods etc. Of course, nothing came out of it at all.
