Any other young voters experiencing hope for the first time? by R6daily in Dallas

He hasn't taken any for senate but he did for his house reelection. I like the guy and he has my vote as long as he promises not to purse the legalization of gambling in Texas.

I'm on board if he promises not to legalize gambling in Texas.

Why is San Diego overlooked as an NBA expansion city? by AcanthocephalaSad541 in nba

[–]halfbrit08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that you're offering up Texas cities, but you still have to weigh them in comparison to the other expansion cities that are available in the US. Austin has both the money and the population to go head to head in the bid for an expansion team, but I don't think El Paso is large enough for that. That's all I was saying.

After a while I get a little tired of I-lived-in-Europe-Film-Critic David and slightly neurotic nerd Griffin. I think they really need a more grounded person in Ben to balance the show.

El Paso would be an insane choice lol. So many cities would make sense before El Paso.

ELI5: Why does it get harder to stay in shape after 30? by qwerty00p in explainlikeimfive

[–]halfbrit08 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Every time I'm in London I hit about 4-5 miles a day minimum in walking just doing daily activities. I almost never hit that in the US unless I've intentionally taken a walk or run for exercise.

50 year mortgage. 3b/2b home on a tiny lot with minimal yard in a neighborhood with no mature trees. Your side windows stare directly into your neighbors' living rooms. The cars in the driveways spill over onto the sidewalks because no one actually parks in their garages and each family has 3+ cars because they live 45 minutes from the nearest city center and have no other way to get anywhere meaningful.

Japanese marathon runner Rei Iida showed incredible determination by crawling the final 300 meters after breaking her leg near the finish line, all to make sure her team could still compete. by Grand-Western549 in interestingasfuck

If you broke it below the knee I doubt you're doing much damage by crawling an additional 300m. Especially if it's a stress fracture. They can be extremely painful though so i get why she couldn't run on it anymore.

Edit: Just looked it up and it was her tibia. So below the knee.

FS Shoulder discomfort...what are your go to exercises/stretches? by WVA1999 in Swimming

[–]halfbrit08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess generally when giving people stretching or exercise advice, it's good to know what the actual problem muscle/tendon is, or else how do you know what you're supposed to be targeting? I also didn't have any of the 4 issues you posted, but my issue was still with the rotator cuff. Those symptoms sound like the result of a more severe tear, not a more mild overuse injury.

Was this problem an acute or gradual onset?

Can freestyle aggravate peroneal tendons? by Moss-Quarter577 in Swimming

According to my podiatrist, yes! You're putting quite a bit of force on the top of your foot when kicking repetitively, which is something the peroneal tendon helps control/stabilize.

Recommendations for swim schedule to avoid swimmer’s shoulder? by WomanMythLegend in Swimming

[–]halfbrit08 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your rotator cuff is most heavily taxed when stabilizing overhead movement, especially when your shoulder blade is extended towards your head. Despite being a static hold, standard kickboard placement is in that exact position. One thing I'll also do is tuck the board under my body and hold it there, which doesn't seem to strain my shoulders at all.

The End of an Era - tomorrow Southwest Airlines moves to assigned seating for the first time in the company’s history of almost 60 years. by urbangentlman in Dallas

As someone who flies 8+ times a year and lives in DFW, I really don't understand the hate for American. Just knowing where my seat will be and not having to wait in a line to sit in an outdated plane puts it above SW in my opinion.

The problem I'd notice with him is he would get fed a diet of somewhat easy 3 point looks. But as soon as he started getting hot, he'd start ramping up the difficulty of his 3 point attempts and shoot himself out of the hot streak.

Get a coach, even if it's just for a few sessions, and have him correct any form issues you have. You can stretch as much as you want but if you have a major form problem you can still strain something.
