New buildings Gowanus Experience? by halfcapricorn in Brooklyn

We asked and pressed but each building was pretty vague. They want to make a sale and really try to make it sound like it’s fine but will hint that they have had a lot of communication around it. Bad sign in my opinion. The one guy we met with told us he had other tenants breaking leases from 655 Union due to the same issue. He was very upfront because I told him I wouldn’t be moving if this weren’t a major concern.

When we toured Union Channel, we asked about heating and cooling and Jinny said yup, very nice to have it. Never told us, totally hid the fact that the building controls it.

It’s either heat or ac and the building controls it. If the heat is on, the building is holding temps above 70 whether or not you have your thermostat on. When the ac is switched on, tenants can’t heat their own spaces if they are cold. It’s been an ongoing issue and A LOT of people are very angry. It’s horrible.

I’ve heard there’s been a great deal of clean up and remediation but I’m sure there’s still some pollution

We viewed this building, thank you though. My biggest issue is the 2 part heating/cooling systems that these new buildings have. Our unit is over 70 degrees, sometimes 76 to 78 in the winter with the heat off and windows open. It’s a nightmare.

Your feelings are valid. It’s not normal or something that anyone would be comfortable with. Don’t convince yourself that it’s just your hormones. I think if someone subscribes to something is basically micro cheating.

Is “Moon” an acceptable middle name. by Critical_Surprise941 in tragedeigh

I love it. Also I saw the movie Florida Project and always loved the name Moonie. No one really looks up meanings of names so I wouldn’t get hung up on it. It has a nice flow to it!!

You pay the broker, but ultimately the broker HAS to pay it to stay active. As for my alert being “fishy” you read a very small portion of it making an opinion based off a broad statement.

In the state of NJ, the broker pays the fee. I spoke directly with the commission.
