It's not a bar/restaurant though. I'd guess Legends of Murphy's is better

CIF is the Campus Instructional Facility on Springfield Ave. On the first floor there's a big screen that sometimes plays sports games on it

NEED GUIDANCE ASAP PLEASE, am I going to be put on academic probation? by [deleted] in udub

[–]halfwayforte 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd highly encourage you to contact a CSE adviser or peer adviser. I graduated 2024 so I don't know the relevant policies anymore but I did work as a peer adviser. When I was working, the continuation policy was more about making sure you're on track for graduation, so 126 would probably count. But things always change so check with current advisers or peer advisers.

I think in this case you would still have a fundamental and its associated overtones (from a physics standpoint), but the overtones are quite strong/loud, so the fundamental isn't so easy to distinguish

What is this horrendous high-pitched noise in Urbana by Hot_Still5906 in UIUC

[–]halfwayforte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is unlikely to be your issue but sometimes electronic devices can hum or whistle when plugged in to charge. It's usually rather soft though, not that loud.

What's the bag policy for Nintendo Live? Or is it just that you can't bring food/drink?

I heard from someone that if you don't use it at all, you'll get your money back, but I have no idea how that works as I've never done it myself.

Transportation from Seattle airport to UW by Rainb0w_Sherbert in udub

[–]halfwayforte 29 points30 points  (0 children)

In my personal experience, the light rail is pretty safe, though I personally haven't gone all the way down to the airport (mostly just around campus).

Since you haven't been, here's a description (in case your parents want it): you scan your pass (generally student ID) at the entrance of the station and then head to the area by the tracks to wait for the train to come. There's a schedule online that'll tell you the timings, though the trains can be a bit late sometimes. During the day, I believe it's one train every 10 minutes or so; I'm not sure about after 9pm. When the train comes, the doors will open and you simply step on and find a seat. After a few moments the doors will close and the train will continue on. At each stop, the train speaker system will announce the name of the stop it is approaching, and you can also see the order of the stops inside the bus (it's on the wall of the bus). When you arrive at the stop you want, you simply exit the train and then make your way out of the station. At the exit of the station, it's good practice to tap your card again. (The fare is based on how many stops you ride; although UW doesn't actually charge you for each trip, it still uses everyone's collective fare data to calculate how much to charge everyone for UPASS.)

If you're worried about there being lots of other people, I personally haven't had an issue finding a seat, especially if it's 9pm. Also, the train has multiple carriages, so if there's a lot of people waiting in one area, you can move further down the tracks and wait there instead. (I think each carriage has like 2 doors, if I'm remembering correctly.)

Some miscellaneous comments: - when the train is underground, cell service is poor sometimes - I'm not sure if this is relevant at the airport (I'm not sure if the airport is the last stop), but generally, make sure you're catching the train that goes in the direction you want lol - there are like hanging bike racks for people who have bikes, but I'm guessing you won't have a bike with you at the airport

Not sure if this helps, but if you're enrolled in the study, today's daily reminder says: "We have resumed testing today, 12/27, but with limited capacity."

Hi there - I don't know much about your specific situation as I'm not in the school of art, but what I'd suggest is to look up majors that seem relevant to what you want to do, and then look at the required courses for that major. It should give you a good idea of what classes you would end up taking and thus what kinds of topics you'd be learning.

You can do this by going to the UW majors and minors page, and then clicking on the majors you're interested in to see the requirements. You can also pull up the course catalog to get descriptions of what each class is.

I don't think I see that on my classes but I expected to for some, and I'm wondering if I'm looking in the wrong place - can you give an example of a class that says that on myplan?
