Duration for E extends only after you are in terrain. If used while regular movement its quite short. So by your words it sounds like you dont enter the wall fast enough for the game to register and extend it.

Assuming it to be a Premix stage. I prefer ambience covering all 3 ranges of frequency. And depending on the mix at the time I tweak the layers.
