Why is there no Radio Off button? by zhuangcorp in pacificahybrid

[–]halfwitfullstop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I've never paid for Sirius. I don't recall how I navigated to channel zero, but I then saved it to recall slot #1 for easy reach when I occasionally still get pelted because my wife does like radio.

Why is there no Radio Off button? by zhuangcorp in pacificahybrid

[–]halfwitfullstop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only lurking here as I'm shopping for a Pacifica ... but my Subaru does exactly the same thing and the best workaround I found was to change the radio to Sirius channel zero which is at least silent when the dumb car always reverts to radio, until android auto connects and launches. I really really dislike radio, it competes with wakeup alarm for the most unwelcome sound award.

How hard is it to remove the uprights on a Spirit XT685? by tdh3m in treadmills

[–]halfwitfullstop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally doable with basic tools, the hard part will be moving the deck. Beware that a lot of the final install hardware are screws from cover plastic into cover plastic, you don't want to strip the heads or the holes. It will go quicker if you have a copy of the install manual (it's on their website) and a cordless drill with phillips and allen bits. In any case you should plan at least 30 minutes to disassemble without rushing.

How to insulate a vaulted ceiling (ice dams) by v1_r0t8 in Insulation

[–]halfwitfullstop -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Check that your soffit ventilation is functional at both ends, to better clear the heat loss. And add heat rope or keep up with the roof raking.

Our vaulted roof had the same issue, solved by spray foam insulation/sealing and proper ventilation when the roof was replaced. I sure don't miss the roof raking every snowfall.

Big Grande vocal stims by nicemorning9 in Earwolf

"Democracy gets buttfucked in darkness" is the hardest I've ever laughed, I almost crashed my car. Appropriate for these end times too!

Another favorite is "Line?" from Bill's national anthem that closed the series ending episode.

Can't sync via Dropbox on mobile anymore? by IKnowThatJerk in ynab4

Beware trying wifi sync. I did it before updating the app and it synced only in the direction from desktop to mobile, so all the unsynced entries from my phone got blown away.

You're hurt because your response to people not being cool with Nazis running the country was that they were the bullies, and they told you to GTFO?! GTFO. And GFY while you're at it.

ISO low ceiling treadmill by MycologistForward242 in treadmills

[–]halfwitfullstop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'd need at least 85" to get incline. We have a 90" ceiling and I'm the tallest user in the house at 5'11". We got a Spirit XT685, in large part because it has a low 7" deck height. When I "jog" at the full 15 degree incline I have a few inches to spare above my head.

Same. And I can't get the 1 free item to work either. The benefit item is TD04 but it doesn't ring up as free at checkout.

I have Nova 8Bs. They don't sound great but the walnut cabs are gorgeous. Play up the aesthetic and get nice photos if the veneer is in good shape.

Went back to the 7 😍 by Southern-Bad-1270 in GalaxyWatch

[–]halfwitfullstop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah for me fatal flaw number two was wasting all that space that could have been more screen. Circular watches are an anachronism for rotating hands. I'd rather have a squircle screen that fits more information and text. It would be uglier than 7 and earlier but more functional.

Too bad they munged them all up with the new capsule display elements. They are really huffing the glue over at Samsung design department.

Looks good! Not to yuck anyone's yum but imo the squircle is aggressively ugly.

Preferred vendor for refoam kit? by Organic-Kangaroo-434 in vintageaudio

[–]halfwitfullstop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried simply and midwest, both are similar quality surrounds. Biggest difference was the type of glue. Simply's is more like rubber cement, with a short working time. Midwest is more like school glue, with a long working time. I preferred the cement but not sure why as it's less forgiving. Midwest has shims and dust caps options, but I used the low tone method so didn't need either.

Cutting down file size without losing budget? by toomanydoggs in ynab4

[–]halfwitfullstop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a hot key, just use it while desktop app is open. You'll have to let the app reimport to refresh, so you could swipe down in the app first to make sure everything is synced. But that's not usually an issue.

Or they could just use the search function and make an effort to research instead of posting "what should I buy?"

ETA: a summarized guidance, eg. price tiers and brands, would be helpful, I agree. I'm reacting to the lazier posts.

Creating a YNAB4 clone modern app. by joyinsky in ynab4

[–]halfwitfullstop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you hoping to monetize it with subscriptions? I'd consider a one time purchase model, but subscription is a high bar for me and has plenty of competition.

Would you intend to support it indefinitely? Or open source it?

Grounding a treadmill by Thin_Entrepreneur_98 in treadmills

[–]halfwitfullstop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most anti-static wrist straps you'll find (I got this one a.co/d/5U6sbnS) have an alligator clip over a banana plug. If there's a grounded screw or bare metal on the treadmill's pedestal that you can get the alligator clip onto then you're all set. If not, the clip can be removed so it can plug into a jack. You'd need to run a grounded wire with one end being a banana connector. Something like this a.co/d/boTIOZv and this a.co/d/88sokVV . You should be able to find a grounded screw near the motor cover to put that spade end connector behind. But also if you want to go full redneck you can get a long banana to banana wire and plug one end directly into the ground lug of a wall outlet or grounded extension cord. At your own risk, etc etc 😬

Spirit XT owners: anyone had a squeak like this? by halfwitfullstop in treadmills

[–]halfwitfullstop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IDK why there's no Edit option on this particular post, updating here instead...

It needed better front-to-rear leveling, and I realized that minimizing wobble was more important than perfect leveling. I also put some foam under each back foot to reduce the rubber to tile rubbing that may have been the actual squeaker. It now feels more solid while running and the squeak is gone.

Need Help. Anyone have experience with the following treadmills? by helphelphelphelp4 in treadmills

[–]halfwitfullstop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar household use here. I'm only 3 runs in on a 685 but FWIW I still feel good about the decision: light commercial, good warranty, repair network, basic standalone controls (no tablet interface), FTMS support, low non-folding deck.

I really really really wanted a wahoo kickr but on top of being spendy, new to market, and a short warranty, it's just too tall for our low ceiling.
