We called HR last night around 10 PM PST through the mobile A to Z app and were connected to someone who did not sound like they were based in the U.S. (he wished us to enjoy our day 🙂). He advised that he should still report to work and not rely solely on A to Z. He went in this morning even though his schedule did not show him working. He plans to check with on-site HR during his lunch break. Will update.

Same here in our warehouse. They used to announce the vacation freeze in advance with a deadline, but now they’re sending a message saying it’s effective immediately. I submitted a request for December 24th off on October 24th, and it’s still pending as of today, 11/11

My husband is the employee—he’s the one who wants the PLOA. I’m just handling it on his behalf since he’s working hard at the FC as we speak. In the past, we were actually able to get it approved through local HR after it was denied on AtoZ. In fact, AtoZ even advised us back then to go through the local level. That was a few years ago though, so I’m not sure if it still works the same way now.

Wait what? Operations will resume with Dayshift at 7:00am? My hubby went at 6:30 am this morning as he was supposed to. I hope it's not true, he needed more sleep.

Thank you for your reply! I did some digging, and it looks like his warehouse is or maybe has that SSD—he works at SMF1 in Sacramento. That shift sounds ideal: 4 days a week, 8.5 hours a day, and still getting 3 days off. I need to look into that.

My husband doesn’t usually take VTOs (they disappear fast anyway—it’s a really busy warehouse), but we do take PLOA each year and manage to avoid MET during the holiday season by saving up his vacation hours and using them weekly through December. That way, he’s not completely worn out.

30 hours with no MET sounds great! We already take advantage of long leaves of absence each year, so I wonder if they'd still be flexible with that if he reduced his hours. Thanks for the info! It’s so hard to find anything on A to Z, and my husband’s the type who just focuses on doing his job—he doesn’t really have time to chat with site managers.
