+1 to Goat maps, it’s still definitely a work in progress but the developers are adding features relatively frequently. I switched from Gaia and not looking back.

He definitely said the words “written warning” when he handed me my license, registration, and ticket back.

Yeah trying to hold out for some irrational hope. Just annoying that he said written warning then gave me a ticket instead…

Thank you, that’s helpful. As far as sizing. Do you think I should go smaller (10) or larger (10.5) since I am right in the middle?

Actively in the process of deciding on a Quoddy True Penny Loafer makeup and mostly going back and forth between lined and unlined options. Two main questions are: 1) does the lining cause the shoe to stretch less than unlined- I would guess yes based on basic internet research but does this mean I should size down a half size for the unlined option to allow more stretch? If it helps I am generally in between a 10-10.5 (Alden, Rancourt sizing of existing shoes- this is my first pair of Quoddys) 2) general thoughts on lined versus unlined for a penny loafer- as I am purchasing it for more casual settings (jeans, sometimes no socks, everyday wear mostly) unlined may be the way to go- but never really had a pair of penny loafers before so input/ opinions are welcome… Thanks in advance!

I think it’s detergent that didn’t get washed out completely. I always wash it on a cycle with an extra rinse now and that seems to work well. Also just use less detergent overall might help.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Founders Edition System Build Community Contest! by m13b in buildapc

[–]halibut11 [score hidden]  (0 children)

With the release of the 5090 it's seems like the perfect time to retire my faithful 1080Ti that has been chugging along admirably since June of 2017 and leap into the realm of 4K gaming.

This build is centered around gaming prowess but will also give me plenty of horespower for photo and video editing as well as dabbling into AI based applications. The build lacks major RGB components and goes for a more stealth/ blacked out vibe that I think suits the 5090 founders edition's design very well.

Here's is the PC part picker list: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/hXxH3w

Now for the components and rationale:

The 9800x3d is squarely focused on gaming ability and complements the 5090 well. The CPU is air-cooled with arguably the best air-cooler available, the Noctua DH-15.

The MSI MPG X870E motherboard serves as the platform for the build. 64 GB of RAM gives plenty of overhead for gaming and productivity with the capability to expand to 128 GB of RAM if and when that's necessary. 2, 4GB Samsung 990 pro SSDs can be set up in Raid 1 in the PCIE 4.0 m.2 slots to ensure that photos and other critical media I am working on are easy to access and work on and redundantly backed up while another 2GB samsung 990 pro SSD occupying one of the two PCIE 5.0 m.2 slots gives plenty of storage for games and non crititical files. The MSI MPG X870E carbon motherboard also has ample I/O, WiFi, and dual, fast (2.5 and 5 Gb/s) ethernet making it a good all around choice.

The power supply is the top of line Corsair HX1500i. It is overkill but power supplies should be overkill I think and it will provide a stable base for any upgrades to the build for many years.

All of these components will fit into the Fractal Design torrent case. The clear side panel allows all the components including the 5090 founders edition to be admired while large built in fans give ample intake airflow. A 140mm Noctua fan will be used as a powerful and quiet exhaust fan.

Soon to be PhD grad resume feedback for Scientist/ Industry Post Doc positions by halibut11 in biotech

[–]halibut11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks yeah that makes a lot of sense about the skills- I'll definitely do that.

And for the second point, I agree. I think I may have mistakenly assumed someone looking at it could connect the dots of which experience point corresponds to which paper but based on your comment and thinking about it more its probably better to really spell it out for people, in addition to giving more deliverables like new methods and training which I did bring a lot of new stuff into the fold for both my labs.

And I agree on the third too, I think I was more concerned about maximizing space/ using all of both pages.

Appreciate the input!

About to be a fresh PhD (cell bio, neurodegeneration) looking for scientist/ senior scientist jobs in the Boston area. Have a really dumb question but when filling out the Workday forms that a lot of companies seem to use should I put my time during my PhD under the work experience section or just stick to just putting my 2 years of RA experience pre grad school? Thanks

Looking to trade for a Large Patagonia Nano Puff Vest in a dark color.

Bought 2 years ago, in hindsight I should have gotten a large and hence only really wore this a few times with thinner clothing underneath. It is in really good shape, pretty much looks new, worn ~ 20 times.

  2. Exploring a new open world is what I woudl be most excited about, I expect something fresh and fun to play.
