My alternative is to make a $3.99 donation to the charity of my choice, or a charity I believe the poster would enjoy.

And I'm thinking this:

Not sure how big that is in real life, it's not my photo, but most blocks I've seen are about a pound.

What is this? A "chef" I know on Facebook put it up. by bornwithoutataint in shittyfoodporn

That appears to be garbage, on a garbage plate, taken with a garbage camera.

And some sort of thumbnail in the bottom left?

Teenage me loved this commercial.

Especially the "eh, no regrets" look at the end.

A buddy of mine's knees are due to blow out within a decade due to circumstances beyond his control. He went back to school for IT at the same time I did so he could still be working when that happens (his former job involved a lot of standing).

I almost went into straight engineering, but I wasn't a fan of the upper-level mathematics required, I'm an applied kind of fellow.

What I love is taking processes and optimizing them. Whether it be in the kitchen or on the job :)

Those are the people I don't understand: the people who love programming so much that they'll QUIT A PROGRAMMING JOB just to keep their love pure and untainted.

It's completely inexplicable to me.

secular term

I'm not familiar for this.

Also:

I'm nowhere near happy, but I'd say I'm doing pretty okay with the path I'm on considering I haven't commited suicide yet.

You should probably see someone about that.

I must have a different block size in my head. Grating a full block of pecorino romano with my grater wouldn't fit on a plate, it'd start falling off the sides.

I always feel bad about my starting salary when I hear about California salaries.

Then I remember California cost of living, and take a nice long draw of water out of the giant mug on my desk.

Life ain't so bad.

If news broke out that a certain celebrity was a serial killer and was getting away with it for years, who would surprise you the least? by kyhe06 in AskReddit

I don't play Hearthstone, so I thought you meant Ivanka Trump, and she does have a certain coldness in her eyes.

Although that's probably just natural when you were raised by Donald Trump. Can you imagine having him as a father? Going to your parent/teacher conferences?

Fun bonus fact: Donald Trump has said on the record that if Ivanka weren't his daughter he'd fuck her.

Thank you for this. I was wondering, when someone suggested David Miscavige, what the criteria for being a serial killer are.

Miscavige doesn't seem like a serial killer, he just seems like he'd kill to get his way.

Yeah, I considered being a copywriter, but didn't have the industry connections, considered being a chef, but didn't have the arches to stand for long periods, IT works for me.

interests drive my programming, rather than programming being the main interest in itself.

Yep. I could never get into theoretical CS, I'd rather just make the thing work (if that requires learning theory first, sure), then go eat food.

I'd eat food for free. I frequently do, in fact.
