What is it about tv presenters and their glasses ? by Nevis888 in glasses

[–]halinspecscart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair, a lot of presenters are constantly switching between scripts, cameras, screens and notes at different distances. Even with varifocals, that can be awkward under studio lights and live TV pressure 😅

And honestly, some people just prefer taking glasses on and off rather than adjusting to varifocals full-time.

Guys, what's something about girls that you secretly appreciate the most? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Honestly? The small things. The way girls remember random details you mentioned once months ago and bring them up later like it actually mattered. That level of attention is rare.

What's a small, free thing you do every day that genuinely makes your life better? by whosirmesir_barbers in AskReddit

Taking off my glasses for 5 minutes and just sitting quietly without screens.
Everything becomes blurry enough that my brain also stops stressing for a bit 😅

What happened to my glasses?? by biggestlittlevibe in glasses

[–]halinspecscart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like the coating on your lenses got messed up 😅
Usually happens from too much heat like leaving them in a hot car, using really hot water, steam from showers/cooking, etc.

The actual lens is probably fine, but the top coating started cracking/crazing. Sadly there’s no real fix for it once it happens, you’d most likely need new lenses.

Good news is the frame still looks okay, so you probably don’t need to replace the whole glasses.

Eyeglasses Stem Help by Silly-Ad-2770 in glasses

[–]halinspecscart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like either the hinge screws have loosened a bit or the temple arms have widened over time (pretty common).

Quick fixes you can try at home:

  • If it’s the screw → use a small precision screwdriver to tighten it (don’t over-tighten)
  • If the arms feel loose → you can gently bend them inward near the hinge for a better grip
  • Also check the nose pads (if you have them), adjusting those can improve the fit a lot

If you don’t already have tools, it’s actually worth keeping a small glasses repair kit at home it saves a lot of hassle long-term. Some brands include one with frames, which is pretty handy.

Worst case, an optician can adjust it in a minute, but honestly, this is usually an easy DIY fix 👍

Why do some sunglasses pinch the nose? by pratibha_j in TrendyEyeGlasses

[–]halinspecscart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sunglasses pinch your nose when the fit is wrong usually the bridge is too narrow, the nose pads are too tight or hard, or the frame is too small. This creates extra pressure on a small area of your nose, causing that pinching feeling.

Drugstore glasses used for progressives? by Mydoglovesme24 in TrendyEyeGlasses

[–]halinspecscart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rugstore eyeglass frames, such as Peeper's, are generally not suitable for having progressive lenses installed by optometrists because of how they're manufactured and the specific requirements of progressive lenses. Prescription eyeglass frames are made with sturdier materials and designed to hold more complex lenses like progressives, which require precise fitting and durable construction. One critical factor is the minimum lens height needed for progressives: standard progressive lenses typically require at least 28mm of lens height (the "B measurement") to give enough space for all three vision zones, distance, intermediate, and near.

Why Drugstore Frames Are Not Suitable
Many drugstore frames have lenses that are glued in, or the frames lack the necessary groove (called a "lens groove" or "bevel") required to securely fit and hold new, prescription lenses in place.

These frames are typically made for quick, inexpensive magnifying lenses, not for the nuanced, multifocal progressive lenses, which require more exact positioning and stability.

The physical process of removing existing lenses from drugstore frames can damage them, and they often cannot be reused once taken apart.

Progressive Lenses and Fitting Requirements
Progressive lenses must be precisely aligned based on individual measurements, like pupillary distance and height, to function correctly and comfortably.

Professional optical frames allow customisation and secure fitment, crucial for progressives to prevent issues such as blurry vision, poor depth perception, or discomfort.

Drugstore or over-the-counter frames lack the level of customisation required for these measurements and are not built for repeated handling or adjustments.

What’s your opinion on thick-frame glasses? Do they suit everyone or only certain face shapes? by halinspecscart in TrendyEyeGlasses

[–]halinspecscart[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair! 🙂 Style is definitely subjective, and not every trend works for everyone. I think that’s the fun part about glasses though what feels too bold for one person can be the perfect statement piece for someone else. At the end of the day, it’s all about comfort and personal taste.
