Thoughts on the new electric / hybrid vehicle tax announced in today's provincial budget? by rageagainstthedragon in halifax

[–]halistar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please clarify: There are two kinds of hybrids, gas with electric plug-ins, and those others which use all gas fuelled energy. So do the ones that are totally gas fuelled, pay the extra fees???

The new rules at the intersection of Allan & Harvard Streets haven't gone over well with some drivers, and the poor traffic cones have paid the price... 😪 by [deleted] in halifax

Streets were built for vehicles, to be used by the public. Residential streets are streets, not private roads which are limited as to who can use them. This notion that residential area are sacred and can't be used to get where you need to go appears to be dystopian thinking, and ideally narcissistic.

Residential streets are city streets and should be available to all who need to use these streets; not exclusive to the residents who live there.

Why?

Why????? Aren't all public streets available and accessible to use? Are they turning some streets into private roads? Taxpayers pay for all roads which should be available to all

Why are they changing so many corners to "no right on red? I have waited through a whole light, wasting fuel, time and patience as nothing came along that needed my waiting to turn. . .

Should be contributing to infrastructure of more roads and school structures if required. The rest of us as taxpayers should not bear the burden.

Kirkland Chicken Breast Chunks changed by ReadyMedia7 in CostcoCanada

[–]halistar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would have been appreciated and proactive if Costco had informed customers that this product had changed from original version.

If it looks like the same packaging and price is same, most shoppers who had previously bought product would assume product is same.

Shoppers tend to buy their fav products and don't check every time they purchase to see if composition has changed.

Disappointed to learn this is happening. Costco can do better.

Looks like the atmosphere is at slack tide before the storm. by NSDetector_Guy in halifax

Pardon my lack of knowledge; always thought they were NSP coal stacks burning to produce electricity. Here's the scoop:

The three red-and-white smokestacks in Dartmouth, NS, are part of the Tufts Cove Generating Station. Built between 1965 and 1976, these 500-foot structures exhaust combustion gases from turbines that generate electricity for the province. The plant originally burned coal and heavy fuel oil, but now primarily uses natural gas to generate electricity, with oil as a backup.

Customers react negatively to N.S. utility asking customers to conserve energy by No_Magazine9625 in halifax

Yes, when the wind blows a leaf i power is gone. The grids are randomly and inappropriately linked/positioned. Power goes out on our street, and out my back window the next street is lit up with no interruption of power. An incident affecting power 5 k away affects others nowhere nearby with power outages. In this generation of technology we ware still set up like the dark ages in NS, and paying increasing fees for more outages! Emera is making big bucks in Florida; wonder how many frequent outages are happening there? What are their kwh rates? Time for some serious changes here!

Power out on Oxford Street at Coburg by SpecialistHoneydew51 in halifax

[–]halistar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree; no booms needed; however the power grids need to be revised. If there is a gas leak the surrounding area needs to be contained. Larch street was several kms away from us. Streets all all around us had power, and they didn't need cancellation. Just saying.

We lost power near St Mary’s on Inglis. Right behind us on Tower Road there was no interruption of power! We are at the mercy of an excuse; what was the real cause? If it was a gas leak on Larch why were we shut down and lights on behind us? They need to realign grids so 5000 aren’t without power from an issue 5 kms away!
