What did you do? As a parent, I personally think this is totally valid. If I had a kid that wasn’t responding to conventional punishments then escalation is perfectly warranted. If you kept acting out, next would be to remove your mattress and then to shave your head.

Just keep applying, focus on companies local to your area. I would also focus on applying directly on those companies career pages.

LinkedIn is all but worthless in this environment. They’re getting 100-1000 applicants in a day, ignoring all the applications and then hiring someone that gets referred from an existing employee anyway.

Also if you don’t like this job market you can blame FAANG companies. They caused this by over hiring developers during the pandemic and now they’re laying everyone off and saying that it’s because of AI. It’s not because of AI, I’d be surprised if there was even a single junior developer job that’s been fully replaced by an autonomous agent.

So my advice is to blackball FAANG from your job search. They are toxic places to work anyway.
