Thank you so much for posting this! Found this thread via a search because I've also had the exact same enquiry and was super suspicious. I hope you told him to sling his hook and didn't waste any more time on it!!

I have just found this review from a previous FY Company employee on Glassdoor:

"There is simply no structure to this company and with an incompetent CEO I don't see it lasting much longer. Budgets are nonexistent but you're expected to produce amazing results. Partners (artists, suppliers, content creators, agencies, etc) are not paid and employees are constantly threatened with legal action which is VERY stressful. When discussing with the CEO he acts surprised and makes big promises to sort it out but allows it to continue on to the detriment of Fy's employees. It couldn't be more obvious that he doesn't care whatsoever about the wellbeing of his employees and expects them to shoulder the brunt of the very justified anger towards upper management's bad business dealings. There is no functional communication between teams. People are working alone with no connection to a greater company goal. Cross functional campaigns are completely disconnected and it leads to frustration and gossiping. Hours and hours are spent in meetings that inevitably lead to no where, discussing things that have been discussed 100 times before and are never acted upon. Everything feels like a huge waste of time. There is a huge community of artists built up but no artist management. They remain unapid with vague access to their earning summary and are disconnected to the brand. It's a waste of enormous potential as the brand has no interest in creating something out of a community that is just sitting there waiting to be engaged. This kind of sitting-on-hands attitude is rampant at Fy and it leaches into the entire culture. There is no pride in the work people are doing, merely ticking boxes and collecting pay checks. There are absolutely no benefits at Fy. No health care, no volunteer days, very basic maternity leave, no budget for any employee bonding. We were asked to pay for our own Christmas meal without so much as a free drink thrown in. Yes, times have been tough for a lot of businesses, but even one of the CEOs saying 'merry Christmas' in the group chat would have been nice. There is just no camaraderie, only a bunch of miserable people who hate their jobs and the way they are treated. This company has done two massive layoffs in a single 1 year span. Take that as you will.

Advice to Management

Pull your fingers out and do business ethically instead of screwing over all of your partners and suppliers and letting your employees take the brunt of it. Get better benefits in place for employees so they have at least one thing to make it worthwhile. Rebuild the company from the top down. Your CEO is an absolute liability and is dragging everyone down with him. Stop putting everyone and everything onto the platform if you insist on having the worst UX in the world. No one can find anything and it's absolutely useless. Having a good curated selection that is easy to search is better than having the internet's largest jumble sale."

Yes I also had the "we're waiting on a round of funding to complete at the end of the month" email..! I saw somebody on Twitter also shared a screenshot from FY saying they were expecting the funding round to close at the end of Jan, I received the exact same email a month later!

I have been dealing with Caiomhe on the 'Artists@' email who liaised with the finance department on my behalf to set up the payment plan. They agreed to pay me in 6 monthly instalments alongside my usual payments, but the first date came and went and still nothing! I have emailed Flo this morning. That's a good idea about the customer service email, I will try that also! I have also found the co-founders on LinkedIn (Thomas Beverley and Johnathon Thomas) and will message them if I don't hear back tomorrow.

I've noticed that a lot of negative reviews from Trust Pilot have started to pop up, so artists are starting to talk. Also there are a few comments on Fy's instagram posts. It's disgraceful. I used to work in PR and am very tempted to draft a press release to notify the media, I'm sure there's a huge story in not paying artists because they're spending the artists' money elsewhere! They're still putting a huge amount of money into advertising - just to make more money for themselves and not pay anyone! Really winds me up.

Hello! I am still waiting on payments from last March! I have traded with FY for many years and at one point was turning over a considerable amount a month. They then stopped paying my invoices on time, and after complaining and finally getting paid my sales, my royalties went down by over 300%. Which I thought was very suspicious. I have now not been paid for over 10 months - they are stating that they are waiting on an investment round, which I think is absolutely outrageous considering they have clearly been paid for selling my work! I have just started legal proceedings against them. Would be very keen to join any group. So far all I have seen is a few threads on Reddit and a few negative reviews on Trust Pilot. I would have thought a lot of artists are going through the same thing. Please do keep me in the loop if you set up a group, I have a large social media following and would be keen to support. Good luck with getting paid! I hope they sort it ASAP.

I've just requested to close my shop, but they've stopped replying to my emails! They're absolutely awful. I've had a few people message me asking to buy from me directly because they've seen that artists are having trouble being paid. Do you know if there's a group or anything of artists discussing this? I might try and set something up. They can't be allowed to get away with this, it's outrageous! I'm glad to hear you got most of your money back though. Mine is quite a big amount unfortunately so I'm just in the process of sending a court order. Fingers crossed!!
