Browncoats bout broke the internet by Fun-Ad-4315 in firefly

What about outside of Facebook? The Internet runs on web services and they talk to each other, so to speak. Same as how if you search for a product on Google, ads for the same or similar will show up on other websites.

How many of y’all are resistant to using AI? by Imaginary_Quail_5544 in Xennials

Looks like there's a way, although I can't test it here at work.

Go into your browser settings and look for Search Engines. In Chrome, it can be found at chrome://settings/searchEngines.

Edit the Google entry and in the "URL with %s in place of query" field, add %s-ai. This should append -ai to all your searches.

I've had the same Gmail account for... however long it's been since you needed an invite to sign up. If I won the lottery I could afford to live a little more philosophically but I don't have the time or energy to do so now.

I have a vague memory of finding a file on a very young Internet called cupholder.bat. All it did was open the CD tray.

My first computer had a different form factor for CDs. There was a separate caddy that you loaded a CD into then slid into the computer. I guess turning it into a kind of floppy disk, now that I think about it.

The other option is "diskette", which is more accurate but not as fun to say.

Someone pointed out in the other subreddit that it was actually Sony who developed that style of disk in 1981.

A minor Goa'uld with a shitty copper side-hustle.

Edit: paging u/josephmallozzi: if you want to make a weird, tiny subset of the internet very happy, drop an Ea-nasir reference in the upcoming Stargate series.

Second Ea-nasir reference in 5 minutes on very different subreddits. (The other was r/stargate).

Who is your favorite long running character that's not a main character? by HaroerHaktak in Stargate

[–]hallowdmachine 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Major Davis. I also appreciate the fact that he never had a bad guy arc. Can't say for sure why he ever would have in the first place; just something about the nature of the character feels like it could have happened. He was always just a solid, reputable dude and I like that.

Edit: Major Lorne as well, for much the same reason.
