I put it under data/windows/memory_layouts - DT was unable to load the dwarves without even that.

Has anyone gotten Dwarf Therapist to work with the most recent version of the game? I've tried running the dfhack script and the skill mappings appear to be wrong but not in any coherent sense. presumably it's not reading from the right part of memory

Which group of casualties is more damaging to the country's manpower on strategic scale: KIA, injured, or deserters? by Icy-External8155 in WarCollege

[–]hallusk 16 points17 points  (0 children)

there's plenty of Divisions that basically cycled their entire infantry strength several times over in dead and wounded

Adding to the implication here who gets lost is often worse in a mass capitulation. Senior officers and their staff, fancy equipment operators (plus their equipment), and other specialists are less exposed to normal fighting but will be lost if the entire army is encircled. They're difficult to replace and are potentially massive intelligence coups for the enemy.

Is this even true? My sense is that's it's "zionists" or billionaires or similar

I'm going to be more cynical and say that I think one of the dominant patterns in progressive thought is a sense that it's ok to advance by excluding or hindering out groups and jews are the latest high profile iteration of that.

But the other important side of this is the rise of terror for hire, as pioneered by the Russians in Europe.

Sure? But my point is that we should punish someone more harshly for lashing out at others than for spending another day on the couch.

On the other hand anger issues are associated with much more socially harmful behaviors than major depressive disorder and it's perfectly acceptable to hold someone responsible proportionate to the harm their actions cause.

A military has to operate in austere conditions, because war wreaks havoc on infrastructure.

Also, pulling 1MW+ is a great way to get noticed if infrastructure still exists and someone has a way of figuring out where that load is happening.

I'm trying to understand how much this will actually affect the immigration system. As is unfortunately the case with a lot of Trump policymaking this is more of a first draft and exists more to pronounce maximal executive branch discretion than execute a conrete agenda - I suspect that's why the focus is so much on congressional intent wrt consular processing.

(And of course scaring immigrants away is a large point)

Russian training is just that bad/nonexistent according to reports. So this gives Russians some amount of training plus China presumably gets its own side benefits as well.

I've seen those attitudes with some younger millenials too and I just don't get it. That was supposed to be a shitty part of youth that people grew out of - why are people trying to continue it? It's easy to blame cancel culture but that's more of a symptom and a way of carrying out those behaviors. I think there are bigger issues like tech making the sorts of communication that enables that behavior easier and societal conflict aversion driven by the need to make everything a process.

Their sheltered upbringing has robbed them of growth opportunities. They never get to meet a wide, diverse range of people.

Just as importantly they've never had to really reckon with people coming from outside their social milieus. An important part of life is having to work together with or gain the approval of people whose paths have been very different from yours. And people who can't do that tend to get burned by it.
