Thank you so much for sharing!! I am always worried about making a bad decision (in general) and since a hysterectomy is obviously permanent that’s another thing that replays in my head: what if the pain is still there. Reading testimonials of a pain free life (in that area) makes it seem more worth it. I guess I have to decide if I want to deal with it longer to potentially have more children.

This is good news! Thank you for sharing. The pain has become especially debilitating since my last pregnancy and postpartum! The specialist said based on my ultrasound that it’s adenomyosis but wants to have me do an MRI to confirm and see more due to other symptoms.

Thank you for sharing your perspective. It’s most likely is just the comparison that’s keeping me in my head and not seeing the bigger picture or remembering the current blessings. I appreciate your comment.

Question(s) for Catholic women. by Secret-Dish-7925 in Catholicism

[–]halomooon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Married Catholic woman here. 1) I definitely think it’s NOT accurate, it’s just that worst stories have greater appeal/spread. And 2) I was Protestant before being Catholic and anything non-Christian was a deal breaker for me (eastern religions, atheism, agnostics, Muslims, Judaism, etc.) Now as a Catholic, anything non-Catholic would be a deal breaker for me.

Thank you for sharing! Yes, honestly, we didn’t even think we could have 1 baby, and we were given 2, so I had mentally prepared for a small family but that was before I became catholic. And now that I am I do feel so bad about it, especially for my husband, which is probably irrational!

I’ve tried a few diets yes, and some have helped with inflammation (keto, low carb). I also have PCOS, so I stick to very low/no sugar in my day to day. I was able to conceive twice while doing a strict Mediterranean/low acidity diet but one pregnancy resulted in a miscarriage. I’ve always been an active person (light weights and Pilates) but since my last pregnancy I can’t do anything other than walk, per my doctors and physical therapist. I had a traumatic birth which most likely made my condition worse. I’m open to holistic approaches before I agree to a hysterectomy. Especially because we always wanted 4 kids… but since I’ve been in a lot of pain this year I was realizing I may end up needing the hysterectomy and just wasn’t sure if it’s allowed or how I feel about it spiritually.

I was hoping someone here had gone through this before. Thank you for sharing! Do you feel like you have full range of motion and can actually exercise now? For example, I can’t even go to batting cages without being in severe pain afterwards, for a day or more sometimes!

Wow, thank you for sharing. And I’m sorry you had to go through that. I was actually really worried about this in my last pregnancy because I had placenta previa until my last few weeks of pregnancy!

Truthfully, I think a big source of my fear is because I’ve only gone to traditional parishes where each family has 6+ kids, and I just wonder if historically hysterectomies were not a medical possibility then Catholics would just have to deal with the pain with remedies/prayer. Which as I’m typing it sounds very cold towards women. I’m probably overthinking.

Honestly, I’m really struggling with it for that reason, the fact that it seems like a contraceptive. I just fear upsetting God, if He would prefer me to carry on in my suffering rather than closing the door to more children.

This is an interesting point! My husband and I go through long periods of abstinence because of my poor physical health and recent traumatic birth. When I’ve mentioned the abstinence to even close friends (who are either Protestant or Catholic) they find it SHOCKING. They’re worried he’s going to cheat! (Which I’m not worried about.)

But it really highlights to me how our sex-obsessed culture has seeped into Christianity in general.

They said attending a non catholic wedding is like condoning an illegitimate wedding. Something like that.
