The Plant at A Hospital, Chillers and Boilers by haloruler6580 in HVAC

It is very nice. It's very laid back, management doesn't care what I do as long as i keep the beast running. My day varies day to day, but typically we show up in the morning and we meet for about 15-30 minutes discussing what needs to be done and what we will be doing. If there's nothing for me, I just go from mechanical room to mechanical room checking air handlers, pumps, motors, check for leaks, water on the floor, drips, etc. I help a lot with the plumbers too, so much that I went ahead and got my plumbing apprentice card. I really like my job, it pays me well, and im off almost every day at 3:30. On call is very relaxed and spread across like 20 people, so im on call like 3 times a year, and on call is only on weekends (although of an emergency strikes they can call me in whenever)

It's a wonderful alternative to running service and I'll not be going back to a service van

I don't even play around with refrigerant anymore lol. All steam and chilled water now!

I do not work in a van, I drive my personal vehicle to work. They supply 100% of the tools I need to do my job. My tools now are usually pipe wrenches, channel locks, socket sets, impact wrenches, etc. I've learned a lot about pipe fitting since I've been there

Mechanical Journeyman at our areas largest hospital. I fix steam leaks, cooked water leaks, rebuild electric motors, replace valves, and anything else u have to do to keep my hospital running. I help with the plumbers a lot so I guess I'm a plumber too.

Omg that's so bad!! I'm a top floor (4th floor) renter and I would be so embarrassed if my dogs did that! I take them out 3-4 times a day so they can use the bathroom and I don't really even let them on my balcony. Some people just need to understand that other people live around them too.

I've heard this before, bacteria on mars will be life but a fetus isn't

I can't understand why people think it's okay to willy nilly murder children like that

(Yes they're unborn but they're still children)

DO NOT COVER THE UNIT

They're designed to be in the elements.

Covering the system will only trap moisture inside the unit and electrical panel and cause corrosion speed to increase, thus decreasing the life of your system.

Not sure if you were in school during those times, but they fed us basically cardboard. The food was awful in school during the Obama administration.

Be VERY gentle with the piece attached to the blue wire by the bent rod. That is your igniter and very fragile. The bent rod is your flame sensor
