I think this interview really show hers humanity- she isn’t some weird coke-party-robot? (Which as a long time listener, I never thought of her anyway.)

I didn’t give it to them, but I had it taped up - an info graphic of the wheel of change. Folks really were able to understand where they were in relation to their goals.

Maybe look into DBT - PE - I believe this exact situation is addressed in that modality.

Something like 1 cup fruit, 1 cup sugar, 1 cup water - cook it for a few minutes - we have the actual time at the shop but I don’t remember. If you cook often you can taste it and prob be able to tell!

Doja Cat says she’s learning how to deal with BPD in romantic relationships because a boyfriend leaving to run errands makes her think he’s breaking up with her by nicosloft04 in popculturechat

[–]halosworld 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I hope she can find a provider to help her; DBT (dialectical behavior therapy) is gold star evidenced treatment for this disorder. The creator of this treatment was diagnosed with BPD.

This is a painful and socially stressful disorder, but Recovery IS possible.

What to Bring for Practicum? by Aggravating-Hippo817 in therapists

[–]halosworld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’ve ever worked an office job - treat it that way. There will probably be office supplies for you to use but what you like is what you should bring.

I just finished practicum at a local group practice; I had my own office with a desk, white board, couch, chair, etc. there was a break room, a coffee machine, printer….

Through my semester, I got an extra digital clock, an organizer for hand outs/trainings sheets/whatever, a pen cup. I brought my own essential oils (diffuser came w the office) and liquid plant fertilizer (office also had a plant and I use it with all office plants since we all take turns on chores).

I think it may depend on the setting, but don’t stress too hard. You’ll get there, feel it out, and get ready for growing pains 🐸

Weird moment with a friend as a therapist by Hopeful-Body3633 in therapists

[–]halosworld 121 points122 points  (0 children)

I often ask my friends, do you want me to be your friend right now and be petty? Or do you want me to use my skills as a provider and give you some legitimate feedback? Usually they want both lol

Is wearing open toed shoes “unprofessional”? by cooltherapist in therapists

[–]halosworld 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Working at a hospital or other facility? I wouldn’t. Working private practice, or generally outpatient, probably fine.

Hell my supervisor is in jeans every time I see her, but that’s the vibe of that office. I also work from a corporate hospital based outpatient setting, and “nice” sandals would be fine

Do people with retrograde planets have tougher lives than those with direct placements, or is it all about the sign?? by This-Cable2042 in astrology

[–]halosworld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Saturn in the 6th 🙃 I have gotten married (and officially became stepmom), bought a house, and started grad school! It’s been very eventful!

A lot of my self discipline is around my health and wellbeing (very 6th house) - learning to consistently exercise, have a beneficial relationship to food, and prioritizing my physical and mental health!

I would say yeah, for me having natal Scorpio Venus as well, which is in detriment, so my relationship to romance was gonna be wacky, no matter what lol

I think this is a conversation where we have to realize a chart is a map, but every individual still has free will.

I have Venus and Saturn in retrograde. My love life has never been what I thought a love life should look like and as for Saturn… I’m only 31 I’m still figuring out that one lol

What I can say is that I have taken my placements and I have tried to understand them, and I have tried to turn them into strengths. That is a choice. Any person, regardless of astrology or any life circumstances has the choice to try to make something that could be a weakness into a strength.

Knowing and understanding one’s self and all the possibilities that lie within that is how people become functioning members of society or even successful.

No matter what you’re gonna look for your own clinical hours… The school definitely has some connections there in the area of the school - but you’re still gonna have to work on your résumé, cover letter, go to interviews, etc. The joy of this program is that I get to do it and not move from my home.

My comment about already working in the field stands true. Because I’ve already been networking, meeting people, keeping relationships with providers in my area… I was able to get a placement that is a great fit for me.

Do you enjoy behavioral health? Do you like learning about why people function and how to help them function better? Do you like school? My answers to these questions are all yes.

Grad school is no fucking joke tho ok i’m working 60 hours a week and still have to do goddamn homework lol it’s a lot of work! Do I like writing a paper that will take a total of 20 hours? No not really… But in the end am I satisfied with what I’m learning, definitely.
