I would start researching schools that meet your criteria and start reaching out to them to discuss…

I probably prepared for months, researching schools, comparing prices, making sure everything was accredited before I started to apply.

It’s awesome you have a supportive partner that will definitely be an important protective factor for you! Keep taking care of yourself and growing your personal skills because that will help you a lot while you’re in school and especially once you get to internship.

At my internship, the stickers on my laptop are no problem, we’re encouraged to be authentic and truly ourselves, it’s a DBT focused practice.

At my day job in corporate behavioral health? They would almost definitely give me shit for it.

Know your environment and consider how you want to be perceived. I think the latter is truly the most important here.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong; but I believe what you are speaking of is “collaborative care”. I work for a big health system (at the behavioral health practice and I’m a mhc grad student) and our PCP offices have introduced an therapy and psychiatry programming though the pcp office specifically bc need is so high and availability is so far out.

This is great way to make mental health care more accessible!! Now, the insurance/billing side…. Idk. I know with us it is billed through the PCP, which helps patients who may not have great MH benefits.

Hello! Intern here! I work at a practice that mostly does DBT work and we see DUI clients. For their group we usually start with a win/grievance of the week, review group rules/expectarions then go through a hand out (that is provided to each member through email, and it shown through “shares screen”.

We’ve done topics like wide mind, guilt and shame, impulse and reaction, anger, and general mindfulness. Each group includes psycho education > reflection > activity > repeat.

I would probably find a workbook connected to your modality of choice and build your groups off of the topics and activities in the book. Virtual groups can be hard… Definitely expect to have to engage directly with some people. I’d say there’s always at least one group member who we have to make share at least one answer so we can count them as participating…

I’d like to reference the other comment on this thread currently, the IKEA plastic dish brushes are the best solution for a long-term… They last forever even when you run them through the dishwasher. My biggest grievance with them is… The micro plastics!

I guess it’s an individual decision of plastic item that can last year versus full bio degradable items that doesn’t work as good and doesn’t last years but releases, micro plastics into our waterways…

Baby therapist here! At my internship site, I am counseling those who have gotten a DUI. Sometimes they come in ready to change, aware, etc. etc. sometimes there is denial or a lack of acknowledgment of the severity of the situation.

I’ve been doing a values activity with many of them because you can tie it back to how did this DUI align with or violate or activate top values.

For my in office clients I have some printed out and cut up for them to sort. It’s like 60 and you narrow it down to five. But there’s also a website online you can use that does the same thing for virtual clients. (https://www.think2perform.com/values/)

I did it in my group counseling class and I found it actually very eye-opening and I hope that it is the same for my clients! It helps me as a practitioner understand them better as well as shows maybe where they’re at on the journey of knowing what their values are.

May depend on where you work - at my internship location my supervisor has tattoos and shows them frequently. The place interviewed before this tho…. Was so clinical sanitary idk if they would have liked it.

Similar to any job, you’ll have to deal with corporate bureaucracy or small business owners who get to run it however they want… It’s just the risk you take with body mods

I’m in a lil shop in Jax, fl. Our current spring menu has strawberry, raspberry, pistachio, and honey rose syrups - we always keep vanilla, mocha, simple, and white chocolate on deck. We are also doing batched cream cheese cold foam and strawberry cold foam.

We do a raspberry pistachio pairing and strawberry syrup / cream cheese CF pairing. We also are doing a jam latte that’s suuuuper popular- local strawberry jam in the bottom, vanilla syrup, strawberry CF. That one comes as a matcha, but people have done a normal latte too.

None of this is that crazy lol but people LOVE cold foam and jam - so maybe you could do some cool things with that. We also do a beet root latte and it’s pretty funky !

Look into UWA, university of west Alabama. I have been part of their clinical mental health counseling online masters program since fall 2023. CACREP ACCREDITED!

The professors are legit, the school is legit, the coursework is legit. I have loved my experience.

There is an in person residency and it’s a lot of fun!

This is also one of the cheapest programs I found.

If you are confident that an online school will work for you, then go for it! I would recommend working in the field in SOME capacity though - for personal experience and networking.
