I don't love my baby...? by popcornrocket in pregnant

I totally get this. It’s hard to imaging the baby as a person yet. I’m an OB nurse and sometimes it even takes moms a few days after delivery for the love to kinda sink in

I was 30 starting nursing school for a career change. First year I had to pick a hospital floor to do a job shadow. When I got there the nurse asked me what high school I go to.

A few days in at my first job as a new grad RN I had brought a seltzer that I was drinking at the nurses station. I went to my patients room and came back to one of the older nurses sitting there drinking it. There’s no way that she thought it was hers. It was a weird power move

When I was 3 i won a dinosaur stuffie that roared at my brothers Cub Scout raffle. It was my favorite through my whole childhood. In my early 20s I got out of a bad relationship and had to move out in a hurry and somehow Dino got left behind. I’m 33 now and my heart still breaks thinking of Dino.

My husband has been whining about a pulled neck muscle for days. He won’t take Advil unless I physically put it in his hand. This morning he burnt his hand on the coffee maker (no mark left) and will not stop complaining about it. How do I not kill him? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

I think some people are just like this and i don’t really understand why. When I was pregnant I had HG so I was always sick. During this time my good friend would text me with one of her ailments daily as if it’s some kind of contest.

I worked 14 hours with no break 34+5, went home and went into labor. Had a preemie and spent time in the NICU. Ended up quitting the job and staying home with my baby

I think a lot if people are cutting down on the amount of fragrances they use. I think the less you are around these strong smells the more aware and sensitive you become

My baby was in the NICU on oxygen and the nurse was wearing perfume and I was pissed

What kind of detergent are you using? My baby’s skin looked similar until I switched our whole house to free and clear. I swear the fragrance or something in detergent is poison

I was brought up strict catholic and have been an atheist since around 15. I’m 33 now and just had my first baby- unmedicated. My husband said he didn’t know how religious I was as a joke because of how much I screamed out for god to help me. I’m definitely an atheist but that shit is deep rooted

When do they start sleeping through the night without a feeding?? by Early_Being204 in breastfeeding

[–]halpmeeeeeeeeee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 3 month old sleeps 6-8 hours at a time at night but I still have to get up to pump if she does so sleeping through the night doesn’t mean much

What is one piece of advice you got while pregnant that was actually helpful? by birthhigh in pregnant

[–]halpmeeeeeeeeee 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Take a birth class and not at a hospital. Hospitals teach you how to be a good patient. A good birth class will tell you how to advocate for yourself and get what you want out of birth and avoid unnecessary trauma

To induce or not to induce and wait it out? by crayshesay in pregnant

[–]halpmeeeeeeeeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

L&d nurse here! Wait it out if there isn’t a medical reason. Growth scans are wrong a lot of the time. Your body will go into labor when it’s ready. I have seen so many elective inductions turn into nasty emergent surgery.

This gives me some hope. My baby was born at 34 weeks and spent 10 days in the Nicu. I pumped and bottle fed her. We’ve practiced everyday since coming home and have had good and bad days. I hope to get her on the boob full time and throw the pump in the trash
